New Orleans Police Chief Ronal Serpas announced a new initiative to identify houses that have been investigated for narcotics activity based on citizen tips to Crimestoppers Inc. Officers will place a bright orange sticker on the property.

Serpas made the announcement in conjunction with the crime-fighting organization’s unveiling of a new smart phone application called Tip Submit that will allow iPhone and Android users to anonymously report tips using their portable telephones.

What do they do to ensure it isn’t a disgruntled neighbor just causing problems?
Do the warrants cause police to come into homes, just off a citizen tip and shoot your dog?
THEN they intend to leave the equivalent of a scarlet letter on your property?!
All this off of some anonymous tips?
Big steaming pile, in my opinion.
Disgruntled neighbor or, say, an ex-spouse? Could really cause some trouble.
So... the orange sticker is a way of saying “Y’all move to a different crack house for a while”?
Disgruntled neighbor or, say, an ex-spouse? Could really cause some trouble.

Yes, the possibilities seem endless, don’t they? Kids having lunches inspected—just how free are we, really?
Mr Serpas’ house should be the first one tagged.
STICKERS!! C’mon, you gotta laugh, everyone here that I know is. STICKERS in response to AK-47 shootouts on the streets! It’s over, and now the powers that be are reduced to pathetic imagery.
New Orleans is non-sustainable. The criminals comprise the majority of the population, there is no tax base and nature is going to win in the end.
I’m planning to get out. It’s far beyond help now.
All the likelier since a mere INVESTIGATION is enough to get you a sticker, even if nothing is found.
And why couldn't this be done by, say, listing the investigated addresses on a Web site? The War On Drugs brings out the stupidest in people.
What they paid for these stickers could have paid the salary of a police sniper or two in high crime areas. That’s what N.O. needs. We’ll have lots of returning soldiers, needing jobs, who are qualified.
Eventually a wall enclosing Orleans parish and guard towers.
Divide the once united.
It’s what government does. Get neighbors to rat out other neighbors.
The entire WOD is a shameful fiasco costing tax payers hundreds of billions and only grows the size of government at every level.
Due to public outcry as to the feasibility of the plan, Serpas cancelled the it this afternoon.
