Iran and al Qaeda's core leadership under Ayman al Zawahiri have established an "operational relationship" amid fears the terror group is planning a spectacular attack against the West.
There are concerns such an attack, possibly targeting Europe, would be in revenge for the killing of Osama bin Laden by the US last year. Sky News' intelligence sources have said Iran has been supplying al Qaeda with training in the use of advanced explosives, "some funding and a safe haven" as part of a deal first worked out in 2009 which has now led to "operational capacity".

Liberal tools will claim that Bush did it.
uhm, duh..
Europe is already dead. No need to attack them. The EU will be history within two years.
It’s the US that is most likely to be a target.
noone is nuking anything.
You mean something like a huge EMP attack on Iran?
With all the lights out and 70 million mouths to feed
they’ll be far too busy to spend time dabbling in terror.
Secular liberalism + Demographics = Death of Europe
QED
With all the lights out and 70 million mouths to feed
theyll be far too busy to spend time dabbling in terror..................................... trust me, the Mad Mullahs will not have a problem with that. Terror is their business, when it comes to their own population or others.
We do not stop until the muslim will to fight is broken even if we end up having to level Mecca.
The only way to destroy their will to fight IS to level
Mecca. To eradicate the basis of their faith is a
beginning not an end.
Iran + Al Queda - Impossible!!
Remember how some FReepers used to post with absolute, 120% assurance that Iran could NEVER ally with Al Queda because one was Shiite and the other Sunni. They seemed so sure of themselves.
Hmm, I wonder where those people are now? I hope nothing happened to them.
“Although Iran, as a Shia theocracy, would not be a natural bedfellow of the Sunni al Qaeda network, there is a precedent for Iranian support for Sunni terrorist groups.”
This line of thinking is naive and it’s suicidal too. Anytime the koranimals have an opportunity to kill “Apes & Pigs”..opps..I meant to say “Jews & Christians”, they will hold hands in their attempt to do so without questioning which sect the others are part of.

I agree. Islam is a well-manufactured political ideology that uses the sureness of its divine word as the glue holding together believers. Their main selling point is the idea that they have the perfect word of God, unaltered and directly from the source. (I know this personally, having talked with Moslem clerics at the Mass Ave mosque in Washington, D.C. in the mid-1970s.)
I think it’s this idea of perfection that makes believers fanatics with a hair-trigger temper. After all, either you accept their perfection or you’re the enemy. Add to that scripture that tells believers to kill infidels and apostates, allows believers to lie to the enemy, and exhorts believers to wage perpetual war.
Destroying that black rock under the sheet in Mecca might be enough to pierce that aura of perfectability. Of course, the first response might be homicidal - or genocidal - rage against the rest of the world. On the other hand, the response might be numbness and giving up. There’s no doubt that Islam’s war with the rest of humanity is a scourge that needs to be dealt with.
I don’t think we have the guts to do it, though. On the other hand, the Chinese, Russians, Indians, or even the Israelis will not brook endless s**t. This will reach a breaking point.
As I’ve written before, my guess is that the destruction of the Islamic world has already been prepared for by God. Hidden among the Moslems is the Baha’i Faith, a religion that superficially looks like Islam but contains a host of more humane features, such as respect for other faiths, equality between men and woman, respect for science and education, the election of representative assemblies (done in a federalist model, no less)... Baha’is are not supposed to proslytize.... and this is waiting for the stunned medieval Islamic people when they’re finally dealt with. One billion Baha’is would be pretty cool, actually. IMHO
Call me cynical.
Dear Mr. Cynical,
You may be correct. I take anything the government tells me with a healthy grain of salt. My point is about the many, well meaning FReepers who used to prowl these same threads declaring with utter certainty that Shiite Iran would NEVER ally themselves with our Sunni enemies.
Yet, we know that Iran has been aiding the Sunni Taliban and the Sunni in Iraq.
Epic failure on their part. Just pointing this out.
To be properly cynical, we have to take the sweeping declarations made by anonymous people on this site with a grain of salt as well.
