Pop quiz: Which Republican presidential candidate supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor?

Hint: It’s the same one who endorsed a pro-abortion-rights presidential candidate in an earlier campaign.

Give up? The answer is Rick Santorum.

Santorum was rightly known as a conservative firebrand during his 12 years in the Senate, but the 1998 confirmation vote for Sonia Sotomayor to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals was a notable exception, and so was his endorsement of Arlen Specter’s bid for the 1996 Republican presidential nomination

Is this the best you can do to oppose Santorum?

Santorum joined every Democrat in the Senate and 24 other Republicans in voting yes. Sotomayor was confirmed by a vote of 67 to 29. It does not appear that Santorum talked publicly about his decision to vote in favor of Sotomayor’s confirmation. As many conservatives predicted, she was eventually nominated to the Supreme Court — but not until a decade later.

Rick Santorum’s no different than any other pro-life Democrat. So, this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

OH NO! this is just the icing on the cake. There is much more to come..stay tuned.

On Spector; “Santorum was effectively returning a favor by endorsing Specter despite his aggressive pro-abortion-rights views. Specter had supported Santorum’s 1994 Senate campaign.

Six years later, Santorum supported Specter again — this time in his hard-fought Senate primary battle against Pat Toomey. Conservatives targeted Specter for defeat because of his moderate to liberal views on abortion, gun control and government spending.

Among those supporting Toomey’s primary challenge to Specter: a certain Massachusetts governor named Mitt Romney.

Santorum not only supported Specter. He ran an ad for him.

“Arlen is with us on the votes that matter,” Santorum said in an ad for Specter. “I’m proud to endorse Arlen Specter.”

We're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little more now if we can and the rest next quarter.

Which Republican candidate supported Dede Scuzzyfuzzy, sat on a couch with Nazi Pelosi in support of Cap and Trade, agreed with Jon Cary on Gorebal warming, and declared the era of Reagan dead while also supporting healthcare mandates?

It was not Santorum but it could have been Romney and it wasn’t Ron Paul.

So who was it?

I think that is a bad issue to run against Rick with. Rick endorsed Arlen over supposedly more conservative Toomey. However, Toomey turned out to be a liberal. He voted YES to gays in the military. I know you have other things to bash Santorum with but this one is probably not going to work. Just a bit of advice.

There are no Constitutional (the only definition that means anything) left running, with one exception, who supports many dangerous and foolish ideas. The field is weak, just the way the leftists planned. That having been said the only person lower than Romney on my list is Santorum. And that’s saying something. I’ll write in a candidate before voting for either. Sadly in a country of 300 Million, we can’t find a strict constitutional conservative (well, one who isn’t batty) to run for office. Sad, sad, sad.

It’s all going to come out on Santorum. He is just beginning to be truely vetted. No comparison as to what Newt as been through by the media and establishment.

So... the country that elected Obama who in turn nominated Sotomayor to the USSC is going to find this problematic...how?

I don`t like the wise-a** latina, but this is rather weak.

But nonetheless... here come the attacks from the Obama Ministry of Information. Nice to see the propagandists from Always Broadcasting Crap have checked in for the day.

Santorum was the only candidate in the Senate at the time. This was for a lower court NOT the Supreme Court. He did not propose her or endorse her, he just voted yes. Even if he had voted against her it wouldn't have mattered, she would have been nominated overwhelmingly.

Why don't we talk about some of the liberal/leftist judges Romney appointed as Governor of Massachusetts? Maybe that would make an interesting discussion.

It was Santorum. How could a social conservative endorse Sotomayer?

Correction, the first line should have read:

There are no Constitutional (the only definition that means anything) [Conservatives] left running, with one exception, who supports many dangerous and foolish ideas.
