Google has bypassed the privacy settings on Apple's web-browser to track the Internet activity of millions of people without their knowledge, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal late Thursday. Apple's Safari web-browsing software was reportedly tricked by a special code used by Google and other companies, the report said. Google disabled the code after it was contacted by Wall Street Journal reporters, the report said. The Journal said the Google code was uncovered by a Stanford researcher and later confirmed by an independent technical adviser.

Im not surprised. Ive been using Startpage ever since I read about the Google/Gore connection...
Where the #^%$ does Google get the idea this hacking and tracking is OK?
Their “Market Research” has gone way too far, it’s properly called deliberate invasion and theft of my privacy!
Google seems intent on having total access and record keeping ability on every facet of our lives, they seem to think they are a branch of Gov. Org., immune to any standard of decency.
I rarely bother getting worked up over corporate slime, but these vermin are getting me riled up.
It seems every time I look they are up to some new scheme to reduce me to an asset for their company rather than a willing customer.
Time to start boycotting them and all related enterprises entirely.
Oh, and I moderate on another forum, guess who the No. 1 account source for spam posters and Phishing scum is? G-MAIL!
Way a head of you. I have been boycotting Google for about 7 years.
Likewise...
I've been noticing for many months that when I started up Safari there was an annoyingly long delay before I could access any web pages. I figured that this delay might be related to an upload of information such as my browsing history. As Safari obviously has some features that require an analysis of your browsing history, this didn't seem totally paranoid.
Since the article says that google has stopped what they were doing, I thought I would run a test. The delay is gone.
Where did you ever get the idea that the internet was private?
tech ping
This is equivalent to your grocery store breaking into your house and pawing through your cabinet to see what you eat.
Google’s motto: We do evil.
My kids mock me when I tell them I don't use Google. They think I am paranoid.
Maybe this will help.
Gore is everywhere
FR uses Google.
Look at the page source for any post\thread on FR and you’ll see src=”http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js"
I have a gmail account I use for most things. I get 3-4 spam messages a month. Far less than any other service I’ve had.

They are going WAY beyond users post and consent when they hack, track, and archive like this.
What is posted, is posted.
What is NOT posted is private, hacking my system is an invasion and theft.
This is really no different than cracking my safe to steal documents.
If they came into your house to do this you could shoot them as home invaders!
So yes, I do know the difference.
Ask the Mods here where most of the attempted forum spam is coming from.
I am sure they have the latest and greatest filters available, I never see porn links and such here.
I am sure it helps that the forum is so active, trash would be reported and zotted immediately.
Private forums with volunteer mods and no fund raising have to get by with less advanced software, and are continually harassed by forum spammers.
I have changed my default search engine, I’m fed-up with Google and their ever expanding obsession with forcing themselves into every aspect of my life.
BAN click-through advertising, starve the spammers!
