Santorum catches extra flack for actually trying to practice the Catholic love/matrimony/procreation/family ethic (it seems that he and his wife don’t use contraception and welcome all of the children that God sends to them), and Newt is a late-adopter of that ethic so he is not seen as “extreme”. Of course Mrs. Santorum was smeared because she did not embrace this ethic while in her early twenties, but Rick Santorum seems to be clean - and for that reason he MUST BE DESTROYED.

This progressive guide uses the same common-sense aspirin-between-the-knees humor as its introduction:

Rick Santorum was an idiot for throwing this guy over. All he should have said was, “Seriously; they’re offended by a joke that is so old that the first time I heard it, I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur??? Have you heard them titter and blush or be offended when they hear what the queer set has said about MY NAME? She’s offended by ASPIRIN?
