Cults can do many things within their cult that don’t work among the rest of humanity.

A good tight cult can even have everyone in it commit suicide, as a team effort.

Hare Krishnas get along pretty well also.

Parroting that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult, doesn’t make it so -

other than in the broadest sense of the word - which also covers the other churches.

Buy a clue.

CULT:
1.
a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.

2.
an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.

3.
the object of such devotion.

4.
a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

5.
Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.

they have ranches, warehouses, canneries, etc., all over the country.

As the late Paul Harvey once said: “If the other churches followed the welfare program that the Mormons do, there would be no need for public welfare.”

And they give to any in need - regardless of their beliefs, without question. In natural catastrophes, they are about the first on the scene with planes, trucks, boats full of supplies and people to help...and they do not advertise this.

http://mormon.org/humanitarian-aid/

One example of their humanitarian aid:

http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/51578/Tsunami-relief-aid-finished-in-Indonesia.html

They follow Jesus’s admonition to feed and cloth the needy...how terrible. They follow the Jesus’s teachings in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins - to be prepared against future need. They take Jesus’s teachings literally. How ‘cultish’

After the initial rush to Indonesia with food, water, personnel, etc - following the devastating tsunami that killed over 200,000 - the church stayed on for THREE YEARS to help them get back on their feet. Here’s a list of some of the things they accomplished. (Some ‘cult.’ Jesus says ‘By their fruits ye shall know them.”

Major Church projects included:

• The construction of 15 schools, including the training of new teachers.

• The building of 902 homes. The homes were furnished with a starter kit which included one mattress, six plates, six glasses, 12 spoons, one wok, and one stove.

• The construction of three community centers.

• The construction of three health clinics and a wing of an existing hospital. Each was fully equipped, and doctors and medical staff were trained.

• The completion of 24 village water projects, reaching 20,000 people.

• The restoration of shrimp and rice farms.

• The building of large and small fishing boats.

• The purchase of sewing machines, looms and other self-employment equipment.

The longer-term aid and development in Indonesia followed numerous emergency response efforts including:

• 50 pallets/medical modules.

• 20 pallets/first aid supplies.

• 4 pallets of shoes.

• 345 bales of clothing.

• Food, water, hand-held communications equipment and a wide range of other supplies and aid.
***********

by their fruits, indeed.

And you too. Ignorance smells.

It would be nice if just ONE TIME on FR, there could be a thread touching on the Mormons that didn’t bring out the frothing, un-Christian haters.

That said, Romney is a sleaze ball. I know a lot of Mormons but I don’t know any that will vote for him. Neither are they admonished too. That’s another Biblical tenet they espouse: Free Will. (It’s odd how if a member of the Mormon church is less than 100% - the whole church is judged.)

They have a saying: - let me see if I can find it:

Okay - found it. It’s from one of their hymns:
“Heavenly Father will “call, persuade, direct aright, And bless with wisdom, love, and light, In nameless ways be good and kind, But never force the human mind” (“Know This, That Every Soul Is Free,” Hymns, no. 240).”

Gee, Watch out for these evil cultists.
