LA Times Hails Ed Schultz's 'Rare Liberal Success,' Ignores People Who Crush Him in Ratings

On its website Thursday night, the Los Angeles Times hailed “MSNBC's Ed Schultz: A rare liberal success in broadcasting.” The subhead said Schultz “has been raising his ratings while talking about the issues of the poor and middle class working people.”

As usual, reporter Alana Semuels had to creep around the dominant ratings numbers of Fox News. In the ratings after the Times celebration was posted on Thursday night , Bill O’Reilly typically crushed Schultz by almost 3 to 1 (2.9 million to 1.1 million) and by more than two to one among the prized demographic of 25-to-54 (632,000 to 267,000). But Semuels tried to tout Ed’s year-to-date tally:

If they can ignore the damage that Zer0 has done to the economy, why couldn’t they ignore this moron’s pathetic ratings?

The only reason I watch this blithering moron for a fleeting moment is because I grew up in the Fargo, North Dakota market and remember when he reached the zenith of his career: reading high school football and hockey scores on the local evening news.

Unfortunately, so did I. I remember his beginnings when he would be the on site reporter for Jim Adelson. When he was on the radio with WDAY his talk show was like an exact replay of Rush. When he got the boot and headed to KFGO he suddenly became liberalized.

Ed was an idiot then, he’s an idiot now.

A classic case of ‘Everybody gets a trophy’ syndrome if you ask me. Who cares if he’s in 14th place in the ratings race? It’s the fact that he’s the HIGHEST RANKED LOSER FROM THE LEFT in the field. He could have been 37th in ratings and still be seen in the same light by liberals.

MSNBC Host: We Ought to Rip Out Cheney’s Heart & Kick It Around (Audio)

Posted on February 26, 2010

ED SCHULTZ (01:59): I just want all of you to know that I get my entertainment through NewsBusters. (laughs, then in mincing voice)

How dare [we] Democrats make fun of Dick Cheney’s heart problems and turn it into a political football. (back to normal voice, to the extent possible) I can just hear some little weasel who’s writing that at NewsBusters. You’re my entertainment.

Bozell, Bozell and his bozo crew. You’re damn right, Dick Cheney’s heart’s a political football. We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him. I’m glad he didn’t tip over. He is the new poster child for health care in this country.

As a former radio broadcaster myself, I can state with absolute assurance that Ed Schultz makes Les Nessman of WKRP look like the late Paul Harvey. Schultz is more full o' sh*t than a Christmas turkey. (w/apologies to all those other more honorable turkeys)

I read the article, and News Busters forgot to mention the most patent deception in the liberal puff piece: they claimed that Schultz’s ratings increased by 60% during the first month-and-a-half in 2012, *as compared to the same period last year*. But, as the liberal article went on to say, Schultz moved from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m.in October 2011, so they wete comparing his ratings in his new ultra-primetime slot to those of his former, nearly late-night, time slot. Actually, they said that Schultz was on at 6:00 p.m. before he was on at 10:00, so God knews if he was still on at 6:00 back in January/February 2011 and the comparison is even more deceptive.
