Well, then I guess this depends on which side of the Calvin/Armian debate you fall on. LOL. The soverignity of God vs. the free will of Man is a debate that is long and complicated. Volumes have been written and blood has been shed over this one. I happen to fall on the side of Franisco Armanius who advocated for free will, so yes I do believe God is interactive with Humanity thoughout the Bible. So yes, I do think what we do matters and makes a difference even in the political areana. It is why I try to influence others on websites like this one. But in the end, God’s soverignity wins, but only in the sense of final things. I will get back to you on this one after 12/21/2012. If we are still here then all this matters a lot. I tend to believe we will still be around.

We can’t sit back and be spectators to see what God’s going to decide on November 6. What you seem to be saying is similar to people saying: “If God wants people to be saved, they’ll be saved.”

That is so far from what I was saying, that it's difficult to even know where to begin.

And since I don't have time to explain right now, I'll save it for later.

Just realize that what you said to me revealed pretty much your response revealing a complete lack of understanding of my point.

Believing in God's Sovereignty, and countering pessimism with the truth of His being in control has nothing to do with our own activism to get things done, in as much as it is in our power.

As for the salvation part, whoa! you missed the boat on that response BIG time.

Think about it. And I'll respond in about 8 hours when I get back home.....

My prayer is that God’s will will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amen! It is SO easy to get discouraged with what's happening to our country, that I have to remind myself, that God IS in control.

We have to do what we can, but we can never lose sight of asking God for His will in everything.

YES; OBOZO CAN BE DEFEATED IN NOVEMBER!!!”

Personally, I need to hear that often.

I doubt that I am alone in that regard....

That’s why I’m very optimistic....they are dems, they never get polled...the dnc just think they are gonna pull the RAT lever and take them for granted. It’s funny, some of them send me emails of ols stuff I already read & I tell them to send it one to some of their clueless friends.

“Santorum is the fallback establishment candidate.”

ROFLMAO ...the fallback after they burned through the first 2 dozen other ‘establishment’ candidates they could find. Santorum leads in TX because he is the last conservative standing.

December 21, 2012....... We’ll be here. God does not have to set His time table according to a calendar of a heathen culture that practiced child sacrifices.

I believe Dewhurst’s first campaign was not until 1998 and for land commissioner. He is a Bushite but backed Perry in 2012 nomination struggle when GHWB was already boosting Romney.

I appreciate your thoughtful reply. But I disagree with one thing you said: “What happened back then is completely irrelevant to the upcoming election.” I think is maybe the most important thing of all. To understand a loss is too grow and develop as a leader. I do understand all you said. Can you shed more light on two things:

1) How big a role did it play that Rick moved to Virgina with his entire family while he was still representing PA? What role did it play that he used the tax money of PA citizens to educate his children while they lived out of state? What was his reason for not paying that money back when confronted, even though he earn a very high six figure income? These things will get through up in his voice by the opposition. IF I struggle with these things you might imagine what others will do with it.

First off, dt57, I should make clear that none of my posts today were intended to be an attack against you personally and I fully respect your right to express your opinion. My frustration is with all the negativity I’ve been reading on the Free Republic board in general lately and I’ve been trying to challenge the “hand-wringers”, as I call them, to realize just how vulnerable Obama is to being defeated this November. I’ve been simply losing my patience with those who are touting their “realistic” prediction that Obama will be re-elected because 1) the election is 8-1/2 months away and our side hasn’t even begun to fight Obama yet, and 2) Obama has had a catastrophically horrible first term as president. I simply don’t comprehend how adopting a defeatist outlook this early in the ball game is in any way helpful or constructive to our goal. We MUST do everything in our power to defeat Obama at the ballot box this November. There is absolutely NO other alternative if we want to save the United States of America as we know it.

That said, you do bring up a valid point about Rick Santorum’s past. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t even aware until fairly recently of the flap involving his alleged use of PA tax money for his children’s education while he lived out of state. I haven’t seen a strong case made in his defense regarding these allegations and I agree that this doesn’t reflect terribly well on him. But given that our nation’s biggest enemy right now is a radical Marxist who has exploded our national debt by $5 trillion, kept unemployment above 8% for the longest period since the Great Depression, forced an oppressive and unconstitutional health care overhaul on us, and has usurped the U.S. Constitution and our individual liberties numerous times, I would argue that now is not the time to be completely fixated on ideological and ethical purity with our candidates. Unfortunately, there is no perfect candidate on our side running for office right now, but I still vehemently contend that Santorum or Gingrich, warts and all, would be 1,000 times better than Obama as president!

We are in agreement then. I do think Rick needs to get out front on these questions. They will trip him up sooner or later unless he addresses them. The difference I see so far betweein him and Newt, is Newt’s willingness to say he was wrong and do what is necessarry to fix the problem. Rick at times seems relectant to do that. That bothers me some. But yes, he is a million times better than Obama.
