Romney's Struggles Fuel Talk of Brokered Convention
Reuters via Yahoo ^ | Friday, February 17, 2012 | Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's struggles in Michigan are fueling speculation that Republicans might have to resort to a doomsday scenario and launch a frantic search for a 2012 savior at their nominating convention in late August....How did Republicans get to this point? Romney's failure to get conservatives fully behind him and put down yet another challenger in the party - this time it's Rick Santorum - is causing angst in the party. Many senior Republicans do not think Santorum, a social conservative caught up in the U.S. culture wars over issues like abortion and contraception, has a chance to beat Obama if he wins the party's presidential nomination. When he ran for re-election as a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania in 2006, Santorum lost by 18 percentage points.... "It's hard for me to see how Romney rights the ship if he loses Michigan," said Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak. "There is no level of spin that can overcome that disaster." Michigan will set the table for "Super Tuesday," the March 6 jackpot when 10 states hold Republican nominating contests. A loss for Romney in Michigan would raise serious doubts over whether he can rally enough support to have a big day on Super Tuesday and make a big move toward clinching the nomination. ....Who would Republicans turn to if not Romney or Santorum? Think of two popular governors, Mitch Daniels of Indiana and Chris Christie of New Jersey, or former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, or even U.S. congressman Paul Ryan, author of a budget plan popular with Republicans....

So who would, realistically, be the top candidates if this were to occur?

The author named only RiNO's as "saviors".

Did you notice a) the assumption that Romney's The Guy, and that Santorum and Gingrich are just "challengers"? And b) that Romney's failure to be elevated, anointed, and consecrated would be -- his word -- a "disaster"?

So who's the jerk in the byline? The story was written by Karl Rove.

No mention, of course, of She Who Must Not Be Named.

I noticed Governors McConnell of VA and Jindal of LA are omitted from this list.

Jindal and Marco Rubio have eligibility problems as possibly not-NBC's.

ReallY Why do you consider Paul Ryan a "RINO"? Why is Mitch Daniels -- the first governor of any Great Lakes state to pass and sign a Right to Work bill -- a "RINO"?

Certainly in terms of domestic policy, both of those guys are more conservative than Romney, Gingrich, or Santorum.

If the RINO’s lose, they will still try to impose a candidate on us! Which would be a sure loser.

Paul is out if you want to win in November. The GOP doesn’t win without social conservatives

Daniels was dissing social conservatives. That is always something a RINO would do.

Both he and Daniels are drooled over by the RiNO elitists; I trust them to recognize their own kind, without inspecting their ACU records myself.

That's why Paul's delegates are so important.

They'll be historically important as marking the first time that Democrats were seated at a Republican national convention.

I expect them to cut up and foment disorder the way OWS infiltrators would.

Okay, she's in there .... "She Who Must Not Be Named" at least got a mention from the author.

I'd prefer it, though, if he prefaced his Palin quotes with "Madame President".

;)

I'm nearly certain ALL the media already know about Barry's liking the boyz. No, make that 100% sure. Everybody knows and nobody is talking. Rush even gave a shout out to a pretty cool website called Hillbuzz that talks about Obama being on the down low ALL THE TIME. You should check it out if you want to be truly shocked. The more you dig into this cess pool which is Obama’s personal life the more you will find. It is truly shocking, and I'm not easily shocked. That 2 men from that creep Rev. Wright's church (and the club for gay men Wright ran) were shot execution style just as Obama was getting into the race....The cases were never solved....Now that just seems tailor made for Greta, but I guarantee you that she feels she can't touch it.

Really makes me mad...I know there are more than a few on this board that knows the extent of Barry's depravity and have tried to get the word out. Problem in NOBODY will touch this stuff. Rush got close when he gave the web address of Hillbuzz...but even he won't touch this hot potato.

Rush should give out the Hillbuzz address a couple more times ..... heck, springtime is near and the sap is rising .... whatever.

Now that just seems tailor made for Greta, but I guarantee you that she feels she can't touch it.

You know how to spell "Arkancide", don't you?

Any candidate that can turn the debate from the economy and joblessness to contraception and religion is exactly what we do NOT need, IMO!

Santorum has done a good job of doing exactly that. I think with seven kids we can assume he doesn't believe in contraception but we don't need that debate in a POTUS election.

Evidence that the real problem is not 0bummer himself or even his handlers/supporters/string pullers, but the Rs and so-called conservatives who are enabling him by their cowardice.

You need to read this, it’s short, to the point, and very clearly written, by a Freeper, I’m copying in its entirety, but there are excellent comments on the thread that are well worth reading.

Chairman Obama’s War On Religion And The Individual
My Brain | 2/19/12 | Alan Levy

Posted on Sunday, February 19, 2012 4:02:14 PM by Absolutely Nobama

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;......”

***********************************

For those of you who were educationally abused in our sham of a public school system, the above is the Estabishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment . It is one of the most important thoughts ever recorded in human history. This tiny little sentence fragment of a mere sixteen words makes America....well, American.

See, ladies and gentlemen, the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses do more than protect religion from the intrigues of government, regardless of what the commies at the ACLU would have you believe. The Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses protect the individual’s right to think for himself, since following a religion is the most personal (and important) decision an individual will ever make in his lifetime.

Chairman Obama’s recent attempt to force the Catholic Church to pay for contraception is more than a malicious, bigoted attack on religion. (Which is horrying in itself, might I add.) It is an attack on the individual spirit. It is using the power of the State to impose its own warped version of morality onto the individual, which is a tactic of choice for genocidal maniacs the world over. Lenin did it, Hitler did it, Stalin did it, and Mao did it. Millions died horrible deaths because they did.

And now, our President Barack Hussein Obama, is attepting to do it.

This cannot stand. If you have the least bit of a desire for freedom, you must oppose this. I don’t care if you’re Catholic or Protestant. It doesn’t really matter if you’re a Jew of the Sephardim or Ashkenazim variety, or whether or not you’re Greek Orthodox, (No, I didn’t forget a certain religion. It’s the only one The Regime finds acceptable, and is therefore safe.) you must fight this or any other version CONgress comes up with with every fiber of your being.

Romney will just steer us towards fiscal disaster albeit a little slower than Obama.
