A lot of us think he’s correct but is there a place for stuff like this in a Presidential Election. It makes him look weird. He’s not running for Parish Priest.

What Santorum has stated cannot be denied.
Just look around you at all the crumbling institutions: churches, schools, civic groups, the military, the press, and most of all, the family.

Your convictions, and Santorum’s are commendable. But, I’m quite a bit older than you and I’ve worked on numerous political campaigns and I’ve never seen a candidate win running on “radical social issues”. He will lose in a landslide and cause us to lose the House and even more seats in the Senate.

I can't say I don't blame them. There is a time and place... Santorum doesn't seem to have the discernment nor manner of delivery to frame his remarks in such a way as to not be highly offensive to the masses as a Presidential Candidate .... rather he comes across as a circut preacher bellowing hellfire and brimstone.. and that's not coming an invitation for the general public to see him favorably.

Where as not only does Newt identify with the public, a sinner forgiven, but he uses the matter of "God given rights" in the context of the what's good for our country and within the lines of the constitution.

"Sensuality"? I'm surprised he didn't mention rock music as well. That hearkens right back to his statement that birth control is bad because it encourages sex for "improper purposes". Like just enjoying it, presumably. And he also said this:
"We look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."
I can understand some people agreeing with those two statements, but I can't fathom a belief that most Americans agree with them. Santorum is preaching to his choir, and they love him for it, but that is how you lose elections.
As for me, the first statement regarding "sensuality" strikes me as weirdly uptight, and the second as dogmatic, self-righteous, and offensive. Perhaps he should have listened more closely to the "pride" and "vanity" components of the first statement before making the second.

Then God’s word must hit you in the same soft spot, since that is the word that is used in the Bible. It is specifically listed as a condition that will deny eternal life.
Very few will agree with Santorum’s assessment of ‘mainline’ protestantism, especially since mainline Roman catholicism is in so much worse shape. That doesn’t make his assessment wrong though, does it?
What do your red herring people (O'Donnell and Angle, who were never in the US Congress) have to do with Rick Santorum?
