Jack Brandenburg being named "Most Conservative Senator in Michigan"

Explanation of Brandenburg's campaign

and now this from MIRS news:

MIRS BREAKING NEWS: Romney Says No To Brandenburg's Backing --3:33 p.m. www.mirsnews.com/alert.php?alert_id=846 ----------------------- Sen. Jack BRANDENBURG (R-Harrison Twp.) wanted to give Republican presidential candidate Mitt ROMNEY his endorsement last month, but the Romney campaign recently told the Macomb County conservative they didn't want it. Brandenburg, named the "Most Conservative Senator of the Year" in 2011 by MIRS, said Romney's campaign head in Michigan, Rob MACOMBER, told him that he didn't make it through the "vetting process" and the decision came from a higher authority than him. Brandenburg said Senate Majority Leader Randy RICHARDVILLE (R-Monroe), a Romney Michigan campaign co-chair, was able to find out that the Romney's campaign was concerned about the nasty nature of Brandenburg's 2010 primary in the 11th District. The Romney team, apparently, didn't want to be put in a position to answer questions about it. "It's bizarre. It doesn't hurt my feelings or anything, but you would think he'd want the support of the person named the most conservative member of the Senator from Macomb County, a pretty critical area of the state," Brandenburg said. To date, Romney has at least 13 members of the 26-member Republican caucus supporting his presidential bid. That number doesn't include Brandenburg, who said he's not endorsed anyone and hasn't made him primary vote Feb. 28 publically known. MIRS is awaiting comment from Macomber. The 11th Senate District campaign in northern Macomb County in 2010 was among the ugliest election fights of the prior campaign cycle. It featured sexual allegations of various types, accusations of blatant lying and fake robocalls disguised as being in favor of the candidates they were really opposing. It resulted in at least one piece of legal action involving Brandenburg's opponents, former Reps. Kim MELTZER and Leon DROLET, after a Meltzer release falsely claimed Drolet sponsored legislation to legalize gay sex in public places. Among those associated with Meltzer's campaign at the time was Glenn CLARK, who is leading Rick SANTORUM's grassroots efforts in Michigan. In other news today, Rep. Tom McMILLIN (R-Rochester Hills), one of the House's most conservative members, told MIRS he is supporting Santorum for president, making him the third Michigan state lawmaker to openly support the U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania. "My main reason is that I want a brokered convention . . . but I also do think he'd do a good job as president," McMillin told MIRS.

Leon Drolet is a Ron Paul supporter.

“I like Leon” is a RuPaul supporter. Well that’s like saying the sun is warm.
