Gingrich first to hit Obama for Afghanistan apology
CNN Politics ^ | 2/23/12 | Kevin Liptak

Posted on 02/23/2012 3:15:06 PM PST by Lakeshark

Newt Gingrich emerged Thursday as the first Republican White House hopeful to criticize President Barack Obama for apologizing after Muslim holy books containing extremist language were burned by NATO soldiers.

Gingrich told a crowd in Spokane, Washington, "President Obama surrendered twice today and I think that deserves to be brought to the country's attention."
**snip**
He continued, "The president apologized for the burning, but I haven't seen the president demand that the government of Afghanistan apologize for the killing of two young Americans."

Gingrich said Obama was ignoring the treat of radical Muslims intent on harming Americans.

"There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way, and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period," Gingrich said.

True, but I don’t understand what was wrong with what she said. It was concise, it was straight to the point. It didn’t pull punches, it certainly wasn’t unfair. It managed to simultaneously make Obama look like a groveling fool and not seem accusatory.

I thought it was well-stated and effective.

FROM Beverly Perlson of The Band Of Mothers:

Thank you, Speaker Gingrich, for having the courage to take a stand against this weak spineless Campaigner-in-Chief!

Where is the apology to the mothers of these two Brave Soldiers?!!

Where are the mothers of these radical jihadis and why are they not reminding their little maniacs that Islam is a religion of peace and to stop their jihad?!!!

Where are the leaders of CAIR, ISNA, Suhail Khan and Grover Norquist and Keith Ellison?! Why is there always silence from all of these organizations and their leaders when these murdering disciples of the Koran murder our children and blow up their own?! They are a disgraceful bunch scurrying around filing lawsuits against all of us!

Please call the White House and ask where is the apology to these grieving mothers?!
Switchboard: 202-456-1414 or 202-456-6213 (comments).

Please call your Congressmen/Senators! Our troops really need us to take a stand for them right now! Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you.

He may not be the best Speaker we could have, but I do wonder why many beat up on John Boehner and the Republicans, who have passed tons of legislation, but we never hear a peep out of the Boehner bashers that Harry Reid sits in the Senate with all that legislation shoved in his drawer! The Democrats love to hear us Republicans beat up on our Republican Congress!

And exactly what are the two of you doing? Sitting on the sidelines criticizing?

At least Sarah Palin is speaking out. You have no idea what her family was put through and how much it cost them. Neither do I by the way. Obviously, she counted the cost and didn’t think she could pay it.

If you are so concerned about it, how about you run for President.

I’m not sure what they could have hit her with. She’s fiscally responsible, she’s got the social conservatives behind her, the Tea Party types as well. Had she entered, I don’t see that Bachmann, Perry, Gringrich or even Santorum would have jumped in.
I think Pawlenty, Paul and Romney would have and the lines would have been crystal clear.

And exactly what are the two of you doing? Sitting on the sidelines criticizing?

Listen up you ignoramus, I spend PLENTY of time working for the conservative cause, and that includes contacting legislators by email, snail mail, phone calls, faxes, AND that is separate from my anti-Romney operation that goes on 24 hours a day, even when I'm sleeping. I have family recruited in 7 states that agree that Romney is poison to conservatives and the GOP, AND we do all we can to promote, support and underwrite Newt Gingrich's campaign. So now you have an idea of what exactly I'm doing, and it's NOT sitting on the sidelines, so you think about that before you start running your piehole again, you got that?

At least Sarah Palin is speaking out.

Just like that obnoxious parent in the bleachers, as Sam Paine so accurately described it. She blew her chance to get into this contest, but not before soaking her fans one more time to give, give, give-until-it-hurts to her SarahPAC when she KNEW she was going to opt out of this presidential campaign.

You have no idea what her family was put through and how much it cost them.

Oh I can tell that whole family has been suffering night and day, with a minimum of a 7 figure bank balance oppressing their family budget, TV programs, the fawning sighs of all the fans (like you), oh yeah Momma, we should ALL have to suffer like that, LOL

Obviously, she counted the cost and didn’t think she could pay it.

Better patriots than her have given all for this Nation, and they paid lots more than anything she has, or will ever have for the freedoms and liberties we have enjoyed up to this point.

If you are so concerned about it, how about you run for President.

That final statement of yours demonstrates all anyone needs to know about your maturity. Grow up.

I agree. We’re apologizing to head-choppers for offending their delicate sensibilities? That is insane. Just because a person puts on a big show of being offended, it doesn’t automatically mean that it is warranted.

It’s really disturbing how people think that the muslims must be onto some really great cause because they’re willing to commit suicide for it. They’re no more right than the nazis were, and look at how they devastated Europe before they were forcibly stopped. If they had their way, it would’ve been the entire world.

Thanks for affirming that I wasn’t imagining the unholy alliance between Romney and Paul.

I could definitely support a Newt/Rick ticket in 2012. When Newt called the mainstream media on the carpet for not questioning obama about his vote FOR infanticide, I thought my wife was going to kiss the television screen. Newt said long ago that the debates should center around obama’s pathetic performance as president and how a conservative president will turn our country around.

He may not be the best Speaker we could have

We went from the 'Shrieker' of the House (Pelosi) to the 'Weeper' of the House, Boner has a spine of Jello and we've seen way too much of that out of the establishment RINO-country club/golf course set.

but I do wonder why many beat up on John Boehner and the Republicans

You answered your own question.

who have passed tons of legislation

Boner should have focused less on legislation, and MORE on investigations, subpoenas and Articles of Impeachment. There is more solid evidence to begin impeachment proceedings than ANY other occupant of the White House in history, but Boner's balls are non-existent. As far as he is concerned, it's just another day at the office and he has become a default enabler of the Kenyan Usurper and we all know it.

but we never hear a peep out of the Boehner bashers that Harry Reid sits in the Senate with all that legislation shoved in his drawer! The Democrats love to hear us Republicans beat up on our Republican Congress!

We KNOW Reid isn't going to a damn thing which is all the more reason impeachment proceedings should have been started LONG ago. If Reid is going to be an ally and enabler of 0bama, then put his ass on the spot and make him as high profile as possible. Boner's milquetoast approach to running the House may well cost the GOP control in the next election, there is no way to know - but it would be far better to damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead and make the Kenyan bastard pay and pay dearly, with absolute unconditional political warfare out of the House.

Newt:...."There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way, and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the president of the United States, period," Gingrich said."

This while Hillary meets with the International Community trying to push thru "International Law" against saying anything bad about Islam or it's peoples and calling it an International Crime.....

We are so far over the edge of the cliff.....and falling. Newt and those he will appoint are indeed the only hope to bring our sovernity back and the only hands equipped to pull it off.

LOL. mkjess and I have gone at it before, but on this we’re in agreement.

Palin was called to do great things. She started out pitch perfect in her acceptance speech. BUT She fumbled the opportunity to build on 2008. That in itself is human. Respectable. No problem with it.

If she had stayed with that, or gone forward, then she’d deserve respect.

She picked a tangent and took a lot of people with her (like you?) out of the real fight.

The subsequent circus bus show taunt was pathetic. Imagine Reagan going on a Wild West hollywood road show or something after 1964 instead of backing up and running for governer in California.

That hard work up to and including the 1976 convention and beyond is why Reagan deserves reverence, and Palin does not.

You call me an ignoramus, tell me to shut my piehole and say this upthread “ I was in the bathroom dumping a big load of Mohammed in my toilet. Used 20 sheets of the Koran to wipe my ass too.”, and I am immature?

That is laughable.

You are on here criticizing Sarah Palin for not doing enough and you think you are doing PLENTY. OKAY!!!!
You are doing nothing more than MOST conservatives on this site.

You accused Sarah of doing nothing more than cheering from the stands. Exactly, what office are you running for while CRITICIZING Sarah Palin for not running for President?

I am not a Sarah fan; I also have nothing against her. I never wanted her to run for President but that is beside the point. I don’t care how much money the woman makes. Nothing can make up for the character assassination perpetrated on this woman and her family by the media.

You think you could put up with what she went through? You couldn’t even put up with a random stranger on the internet criticizing your comment without getting angry and attacking me personally.

“Better patriots than her have given all for this Nation”
It is much easier to compare what Sarah Palin has done for this Nation to what OTHERS have done for this nation than it is to compare her to yourself, isn’t it?

Thank you for your reasoned and respectful reply.

I am not a Sarah fan and I didn’t want her to run for President. I also have nothing against her.

I am working for the conservative cause. I haven’t done nearly as much for that cause as Sarah Palin has done and I also haven’t paid nearly so dear a price as she. I would never criticize someone else for something I couldn’t begin to comprehend.

If I had the media invade my hometown and do everything they could to attack me, my husband and my children, I do not think I could have handled it as well as Sarah.

How do you think you would have handled it? That was my point.

I give credit to Newt for actually bothering to go to the effort to actually run, given all the slings and arrows of the media.

I also give him a lot of credit. Of course, he's my #1 choice.

After his fall he spent quite a few years in "exile", and I imagine he thought he would not get another chance. But he wasn't idle during those years, he wrote dozens of books, traveled, spoke, debated, taught, and essentially did what he could. He built his personal fortune to make himself financially independent.

And when things in the country got bad enough, the door opened for him to reenter the fray. When you've got the baggage he's got, getting back in requires courage, because everything you ever did or said is going to be thrown right in your face. But he has faced it gracefully and cheerfully for the most part.

So, I like the guy. I think the fact that he lost it all and had to earn it back has made him a better and stronger person, and he was pretty tough to begin with. I think he'll make a fine president, baggage and all.

You certainly are immature, because you fail to recognize an obvious and deliberate slur at the death cult known as Islam. And you would probably have had to use over 50 sheets.

That is laughable.

I thought it was pretty funny myself. If it pissed off some Muslims, all the better.

You are on here criticizing Sarah Palin for not doing enough and you think you are doing PLENTY. OKAY!!!! You are doing nothing more than MOST conservatives on this site.

You come into the thread accusing Sam Paine and I of 'being on the sidelines' without knowing jack squat about what we (or anyone) does, and you were obviously talking out of your chronic ignorance, so let me help you out here: 'don't write checks with your mouth that your ass can't cash'. Got it?

You accused Sarah of doing nothing more than cheering from the stands. Exactly, what office are you running for while CRITICIZING Sarah Palin for not running for President?

I presently occupy the office of CITIZEN and I have every right to criticize Sarah Palin or any other bloviating big mouth who talks the talk, and talks the talk, and talks the talk, get the picture, sister?

I am not a Sarah fan; I also have nothing against her. I never wanted her to run for President but that is beside the point. I don’t care how much money the woman makes. Nothing can make up for the character assassination perpetrated on this woman and her family by the media.

"I am not a Sarah Fan", methinks thou protesteth too much. As for the media? She knew from the git-go what she was letting herself in for, and the fact is, the media has been her willing accomplice in promoting her presence, her causes, her bus tours, her reality shows, and without that media she would never have become the celebrity superstar she is today. Ohhhh yes, she has suffered immensely (snicker).

You think you could put up with what she went through? You couldn’t even put up with a random stranger on the internet criticizing your comment without getting angry and attacking me personally.

You're no random stranger, you're a poster on FR and YOU chose to engage Sam Paine and I in this thread, and you got your ass handed to you for your troubles. Looks good on you.

I did want her to run for president. And what do you know about what Pelosi or well, Barney Frank has done to win his elections and push his agenda. Ugh. I can't begin to comprehend what he has done...ugh...but I sure as hell feel free to criticize him and his, uh, positions!

If I had the media invade my hometown and do everything they could to attack me, my husband and my children, I do not think I could have handled it as well as Sarah. How do you think you would have handled it?

Better than Cain, but not as well as Newt.

Palin didn't handle it at all. She jumped on the pop-celebrity wagon. That was my point.

I certainly understand your slur, I just don’t find it intelligent or mature. Do you understand the meaning of the word immature? It means having emotional or intellectual development appropriate to someone younger. Calling names and potty humor (even as an insult) is certainly immature.

Insults do not amount to an argument. You can tell me I got my “ass” handed to me but you fail to refute my argument. You are certainly free to criticize Palin as I am certainly free to comment on it.

An honest question here...Are you jealous of Sarah Palin? If not, you may want to tone down the criticism of her financial success because that is how it sounds.

Why compare Sarah Palin to others and not to yourself? If you have given up everything for this nation you might have a point. It wasn’t personal.

You accused me of being a Sarah Palin fan and all I did was answer your charge. Exactly how is that protesting too much? Please feel free to check my posting history if you can’t take my word.

You aren’t new to this forum but this is the first time I remember crossing paths with you. Not sure if you are male or female. You are very rude, illogical, foul mouthed and you continue to try to make things personal. You aren’t actually debating the topic. All this is making you look very petty and it is diluting any argument you may have.

As for what I am doing personally: I write, call, pray, visit my legislators, petition, attend rallies, campaign, contribute, teach my children, vote, and educate myself and my circle of influence.
