There is a difference between ideology and party politics.
Party politics force you to compromise your ideology at times......especially with regard to endorsements and campaign support.
Anyone who cannot figure out the difference is an imbecile.

My congressman is a second time freshman. The first time around he was fine till he stood in opposition to the party on bailouts. The NRCC declared him a lost cost and stripped him of funds in the final weeks of the election and he lost by a whopping 2%. In 2010 we reelected him with minimal party support.
This time around he offered a weak endorsement of Romney but has since walked it back a bit. I'm sure there's plenty of pressure being applied to the freshmen and the pressure is greatest on those who don't make a lot of news.
The fact that our biggest problem in the GOP is with the same old leadership playing the same of games.
