Newt Gingrich rips President Obama’s apology to Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai over Koran burnings

The torching of the Islamic holy books has triggered deadly protests this week. Two U.S. troops were among those killed in retaliation for the burnings.

Obama issued the formal apology in a letter, after charred copies of the Koran were found in a garbage pit on a U.S. air base earlier in the week.

On Thursday, he called the act "inadvertent" and vowed to hold those involved accountable.

Detainees were allegedly using the books to pass messages to on another.

Gingrich - the first of the White House hopefuls to weigh in on the issue - added it was really Karzai who owed the U.S. an apology over the deaths of the U.S. servicemen.

"It is Hamid Karzai who woes the American people an apology, not the other way around," he said in a statement. "This destructive double standard whereby the United States and its democratic allies refuse to hold accountable leaders who tolerate systematic violence and oppression in their borders must come to an end."....

They also attacked the president after he gave a speech in Florida yesterday on his plan to lower gas prices. The president said, "None of these steps I've talked about today represent the silver bullet that will bring down gas prices tomorrow."

Gingrich took aim at that, saying, "The president of the United States explains, first of all, that there's no single silver bullet. Now that's just wrong. Defeating Obama is a single thing that would change everything."..... Source

Obama and the military “leadership” just made matters worse by acknowledging that we burned the books.

If anything, they should have done what they do with the American population, and deny everything. Claim the Taliban burned the books to make as a set up.

Anyway, pull out and nuke from Orbit. I am sick of spending our blood and treasure on ungrateful sheep lovers. If they establish more terrorist training camps, we just come in and kick butt again, then leave. Enough nation building when the people seem to only want tyranny.

For centuries the Afghans have warded off many like us and centuries from now they will be doing the same. They like the way their world is, obviously not what we or the Taliban want for them.

Maybe there is some bigger picture we are not privy to, undoubtedly something tied to energy security, which would be moot if we had the good sense to really become energy independent.

I too agree with how we should proceed with countries like Afghanistan. If they sponsor attacks on us, pay em back 10 to 1, then leave.

Go Newt! i wish that our other candidates would start focusing their attacks on BO the way Newt does. that way, if the MSM ever replayed any of their comments it would be anti-BO, and the American people just might come to realize which side of the political spectrum truly has the best interests of this great country in their heart.
