CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- President Hugo Chavez bid an emotional farewell laced with references to Jesus Christ and independence hero Simon Bolivar as he departed Venezuela on Friday for Cuba for urgent surgery to remove a tumor he says is probably malignant.
Clasping the hand of his youngest daughter, Chavez addressed allies of his socialist political movement and troops standing at attention at the Miraflores presidential palace.

Apaprently the state media in Venezimbabwe tried to say this was all unplanned. The ‘crowds’ were bussed in, aerial shots showed the buses, and they all just happened to bring red shirts with them?
I really wonder how long Chavez has to live, anyway. The most recent pictures I’ve seen of him show a man in really poor health.
His time is running out quickly you can tell by looking at him.The steroids they have him on have him blown up and his complexion looks yellow.His days are numbered.
So why doesn’t the freedom fighters shoot his plane out of the sky? Sounds reasonable to me.
He’s probably smelling it now, but back at the UN that wasn’t sulfur. Ol’ George had two quarts of West Texas chili flown in special from Midland when he learned Hugo would be next up at the podium. Just his way of saying “Howdy”.
