THE RESULTS of the special election, while largely expected, are truly remarkable for what they reveal about who we are as a state and the current nature of our political landscape. They are not just important because they may end up being Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Waterloo, but also because they show so clearly that our political discourse is terribly broken, perhaps far beyond repair.

All of the GOP candidates believe in government as much as Democrats do. That is one of the biggest problems.
The other problem is that we act as if the left were a legitimate political adversary when they practice slash and burn political warfare and “our side” play like dithering old gentlemen who believe the other guy is also playing fair.
I posted a bit too quickly.
A tip of the cap to Red Steel for posting the short interview of Newt in California today. Newt refers to this op-ed from more than six years ago (his memory is truly phenomenal). Ziegler is writing specifically about referenda in California, but one can easily imagine seeing the same awful results ANYWHERE in a nation that cherishes free speech.
Back in 2009, his admiration for Sarah Palin bordered on reverence. You can read his practically sycophantic review of her book Going Rogue here. Ziegler was even kicked out of Western CPAC after almost getting into a fist fight with David Keen over something Keen had said about Palin.
Yet how times change! For some reason, Ziegler has since done an about-face on Sarah Palin, who is now the frequent target of his attacks. He has even launched an anti-Palin website. Ziegler also has some sort of beef with Newt Gingrich, whom he regularly attracks.
You can read Ziegler's writings at John Ziegler Online.
No, thanks.
Quelle surprise. The guy (who I’m pretty sure used to post here) is a dchbag who has managed to talk his way out of every single good gig he’s ever had.
I do not understand Ziegler’s change either. Don’t forget he even made a documentary about Palin, called Media Malpractice. Whenever I see a headline of one of his articles bashing Palin, such as on Hot Air, I never bother to read the article.
That includes FR, where he talked himself into Zotsville.
