Wow, Stepan, could you get this anymore wrong? And using Goebbels regarding the Jewish character...you’re kidding, right? You didn’t see this movie, otherwise you wouldn’t A) be so wrong on the characters, and B)calling it garbage when it is approved by SEALs and acted by SEALs.

First. Christo wasn’t the head of the Chechen Muslim terrorist group. The other asshole, Shaban, was. Shaban recruited Fillipinos to carry out the acts. Christo was aiding an old friend who had converted to Islam. Christo was the financier. Second. Christo was not an observant Jew, but a Jew by heritage and blood. Third. There are and always have been Jews that did evil things. There were Jews that worked for the Nazis in the ghettos and the camps.

Since you’re so bold about how you feel, why not give the woman’s name who rated it? What do you have to hide?

I’m betting you’re from Daily Kos since you’re so vile. Or could it be Huffington? Your inane ramblings prove that this movie is spot on because whenever the Left gets nasty you know you’re doing something right. I’m buying another couple tickets just because of you.

I just saw it up here in the PRM (People’s Republic of Massachusetts) and...

There was applause!

Thanks. Here is the IMDB page on The Thief.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0124207/

A friend of mine gave me the DVD and I watched it with my wife and we were just crying our eyes out, it was so incredibly moving.

Doing some research I came to the conclusion that this movie was indeed buried BIG TIME and it goes without saying because it went against two things liberals love to celebrate and promote: Single motherhood/fatherless kids and Marxism, both of which this movie absolutely destroys by showing its true reality, its ultimate result.

This movie also came out at the same time as that other foreign movie, the clown movie that made light of the holocaust: “Life is Beautiful” which of course Hollywood threw awards at. Yes, death camps and the holocaust is always a good backdrop for comedy. Meanwhile a movie like ‘The Thief’ which portrays reality is shoved under the rug.

I’ll keep looking. My massive DVD library has several titles that were very hard to locate, such as Song of the South. The search is half the fun.

The search was to easy. Amazon had several region 1s used copies for sale. I’ll be watching it by this time next week. Thanks again for the tip,

I saw it last night in Houston. Audience reaction was more like satisfaction that someone, somewhere, finally gets it.

Kudos to the operators, the depiction of their ops was amazing and inspiring. I've never seen a nuclear submarine from that perspective before.

I went to see this movie tonight, and came away very impressed.

I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to see our military personnel portrayed in a positive, non-stereotypical way.

There was blood, splattering of wounds and so on, but I only saw one part that I thought was fairly graphic, and if you even blinked, you would miss it.

For those of you who are familiar with firearms, you might appreciate (as I did) the different way that gun fire was portrayed audibly. I recognize that many Freepers with far more experience may disagree with me, so I will humbly defer to them in this. This definitely wasn’t Rambo. There wasn’t a lot of spraying gunfire (at least from the Navy SEALs), and the ammunition handling seemed more in line with the US Navy SEALs that it did with a Hollywood action movie. But the gunfire itself was interesting. Again, this is my opinion… but almost every Hollywood movie you see that has gunfire in it, the sound is very, er, “trebly” for lack of a better description. It always sounds somewhat staccato with the treble turned all the way up.

It seemed to me that the gunfire in this movie very much have a thumping bass component to it, which I found very interesting.

I also found the end of the movie very moving. I think, if you have ever been involved in one of those ceremonies personally, it carries even more weight. Another interesting thing for me was seeing the credits of US Navy SEALs killed in action.

I know that we have lost a lot of our best in the last decade, in training accidents and actual warfare, but see that many of them was a little bit of a stunner for me.

It reminded me of the 1st time I saw “The Wall” in Washington DC.

It was early in the morning, and there wasn’t very many people there at the time. I got to walk along from one end to the other without having someone walk in front of me.

I begin by looking at all the names on one panel and realized the toll by being able to physically make the extension to however many panels there were.

As I walked along, I tried to read one name off of each panel, but even that was too much. There were so many.

That was a little bit of the feeling I got when I watched the credits roll with the names of all those US Navy SEALs killed in action.

And that other poster Stepan12 was off-base in his evaluation. The focus was clearly not on that fellow as much as it was on the actual leader of the Islamists. And by the way, I loved the way they portrayed the team member who interrogated the guy. I had to laugh out loud every time he called him “Crisco”. That was beautiful!

Ha...I laughed when I read your post! As my brother and I walked out, I said "This is odd, but you know one of the things that stuck with me? When they looked down at the top of the sail as the sub dived! I have seen subs in a lot of different ways, but never that one, and it was awesome to see."

Good to see I wash't the only one.

My family and I were laughing later when we discussed the Senior’s interview of “Crisco.” They caught on that he knew all there was to know about “Crisco” before he started talking to him.

I don’t go to movies but Rush mentioned it on his show and I decided to see the Matinee. All I can say is wow. What I enjoyed about the movie is the fact that real Seals were in the movie.

Though they weren’t the smooth talking actors, they came across as real because they were. They made Stallone look like a boy scout.

Go see it.

Jim Robinson does not want the woman's name mentioned. I would prefer not to be kicked out of here if I can help it.

Saw it last night. The audience broke out in applause at the end. Cool. And great movie, too.

Is that due to live fire being used In the movie?

While the audiences I was in were silent, I find applause to be appropriate also. Either mood reflects something profound to the people who see this movie.

I am hoping for the best for viewing results for the movie. Today being Sunday, it should put the movie over 30 million, and perhaps the next week will also be good once the word gets around. Let’s cross our fingers.

As I watched, I began to wonder if all the physical training isn't to harden them for all those 12-hour, flat-assed plane rides in Marine Corps C-130's. That has to be one of the draftiest, coldest, shakiest, most teeth-rattling modes of travel that there is. Most troops get what, four flights a year in and out on a deployment? These guys are wheels-up for Nowhere twice a month, it seems like.

The mechanics and choreography of the insertions and extractions is just dazzling, though. And the toys are pretty damn cool. I know a couple of guys who want one of those bass boats!

I rode in one once flying to Yuma from Jacksonville...it seemed to take a REALLY long time to get there...particularly flying across Texas...I had no idea at the time Texas was that big...:)

I agree on all those points!
