Romney: Elect me and I won't embarrass you (Is that a good reason to vote for him?)

Romney has opened a 16 point lead over Santorum in the most recent Rasmussen poll. This means it's just about time for the Mittster to say something off the wall stupid and remind people why they don't want him as the nominee.

Every time Romney gets a little momentum going, he stumbles, blunders, and ends up with egg on his face. I guess Mitt is one of those guys who just can't stand success.

CNN:

In a speech to his largest audience in recent memory Thursday, Mitt Romney pledged that he would never embarrass the American people in the White House.

That assurance - which the campaign previously deployed against Newt Gingrich in Iowa - appeared to be a veiled swipe against the Republican presidential slate at large.

"What we need in leadership is individuals who will tell the truth and will live with integrity," Romney told the raucous audience. "I will not embarrass you in the White House."

In the run-up to Michigan's primary, Romney's chief rival, former Sen. Rick Santorum, had to massage a number of controversial statements on social issues. He said he regretted saying John F. Kennedy's defense of the separation between church and state made him want to "throw up" and provoked ire with comments about women serving in the military.

Recently Romney himself has had to clean up a series of verbal gaffes, including a flubbed response to a question about a Republican-backed congressional amendment and two casual references to his wealth that provoked his opponents' glee.

Romney's appearance in Idaho Falls was met with wild applause by the more than 2,500 people who turned out to Skyline High School to cheer on the GOP presidential candidate.

If that isn’t a compelling campaign pitch, I don’t know what is (eyeball roll).

My own best estimate is that Romney or Gingrich either one could win a national election, but that Santorum could not. We need to get Santorum out of the picture.

None of them will beat Obama.

Republicans may take both the House and Senate, like George Will suggested, but then they'll sit motionless while Obama runs circles around them.

[We need to get Santorum out of the picture.]

It is too late for that now. It was THE dumbest move this party has ever made, at such a critical time. With Super “T” only 4 days away, the Lemmings will vote Romney because he has the momentum. Santorum is only an election killer, as some of us predicted.

The majority of the Electorate is Brain Dead. Looking at the latest poll averages, Santorum’s crash is being evenly split with 1/3rd going between Newt and Paul with 2/3rds going for Romney.

It is what it is.........We have to deal with it. I am hoping for a Brokered Convention, which may actually happen, since this is by far, the dumbest electorate in decades, if not history.

And the nomination will be even dumber, like Christie or Jeb Bush.

That will trigger a 3rd party effort, that will actually work. It won't be the same as the Ross Perot effort, since this election situation is far more unstable, as well as critical, than was the time of GHWB. We will have Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin at the front. And that people, is Light Years ahead of Ross Perot!

Does this mean he will embarrass us if we don’t elect him?

RE: Republicans may take both the House and Senate, like George Will suggested, but then they’ll sit motionless while Obama runs circles around them.

This seldom happens. The House and Senate and the Presidency USUALLY (in fact in MOST CASES) sweep in the same direction.

Maybe someone can tell me when in the last century, a president got re-elected with his party losing both houses of Congress...

Obunga is hugely beatable and Newt or Mitt Romney either one would beat him, and Newt would beat him badly. The only real shot we have at losing this thing is Santorum.
