Chinese nationals on work assignments in Pakistan had previously been seized as bargaining chips and sometimes murdered, but this is the first time, to my (admittedly limited) knowledge, that linkage has been made between a seizure/murder and the Chinese suppression of Muslim rebels in Xinjiang/East Turkistan. It appears that the Chinese policy of supplying the Taliban with weaponry has not completely quieted Taliban qualms* about Chinese policies vis-a-vis internal rebels. This murder may also be a sign that China's policy in supporting Syria's Alawite government against Sunni Arab rebels is causing it to lose support among Sunnis (90% of all Muslims) worldwide.
* Which kind of makes sense, given the position of Muslims that any territory that was for a time ruled by Muslim should remain ruled by Muslims for the rest of time. The quirky aspect of Xinjiang/East Turkistan is that the region was populated by Muslims imported from Central Asia two centuries ago. Its prior inhabitants, the Dzungars - a Buddhist Mongol tribe - had been exterminated by the Chinese. In importing large numbers of Muslims to replace the Buddhist Dzungars, the Chinese arguably substituted the Ebola plague for the common cold. However, Chinese rulers - atheistic in practice (due to the twin influences of Legalism and Confucianism) long before this became fashionable in the West - have long subscribed to a view Keynes restated thus: "In the long run, we are all dead." Tactical considerations always overrode the long view.

Why can there be such a thing as a Taliban spokesman, and why is he not shot in the head the very second he claims to be one?

If this is true, the Chinese will seriously mess up the Taliban. There is no such thing as an ROE book with them.

There is something sad, yet refreshing in this. The islamofacisists are going to get what they deserve, just not from us. So the joy felt at seeing the Pakistani's getting their long overdue butt kicking will be tempered by watching the growth of a new Chinese empire.
Unlike the woosified, politically correct US, the Chinese still understand the value of delivering a good a$$ kicking. And the Islamist's standard method of fighting, which depends on having massive numerical superiority to make up for technical deficiency, isn't going to work against the Chinese. There are simply more of them then, well anybody else. And they have fairly good kit to boot. Not the best, but good enough to wipe the floor with the Taliban.
America's great weakness is that we are unable to take casualties. We have a low birth rate, and except for immigrants a declining and aging population. The Chinese have massive excess population. They could simply swamp Pakistan. And if it comes down to throwing nukes, the Chinese have more and better. Oh and unlike Obama they will use theirs.

Nothing will happen. The chicom leaders say they have over a half a billion more. They will send another one over, right away.

Chinese practice is often an enigma to the West, but some things are certain.
The Chinese are intelligent, adaptable at an accelerating pace, and have repeatedly demonstrated willingness to exterminate a culture that is inconvenient to their overall plan.
I would bet on the modern Chinese over the Eight Century Muslims, they still have the will, and now the technology.

But if they really wanted to showcase their military prowess, possibly these heroes should have thrown in a few children and maybe a cripple or two for good measure.
Never mind; they’ll have plenty of time to review their omission while they’re rotting in hell.

Having the Chinese fight the Muslims could be a good thing in the long run for the reasons others have stated.
The Chinese are willing to do “wet work” which we won't.
The Chinese, unlike the Russians, have virtually unlimited population and are capable of swamping an enemy nation, up to and possibly even including massive military assaults causing depopulation, followed by colonization. I'd much rather see Kabul and Islamabad become cities named “little Beijing” than see those cities continued to follow a radical Muslim agenda imported out of the tribal fanaticism of the Arabian peninsula from more than a millennium ago.
Granted, the Chinese are not believers in Western-style democracy or free-market capitalism. They are, however, people we can deal with in a manner comparable to, at worst, the old Soviet Union — they have long, medium and short-term goals and can be dealt with as people who have a game plan. The radicals who lead the Islamic world cannot be reasoned with — how can you deal with people who believe that if they lose, they get 72 virgins?
