Election 2012: Republican Presidential Primary
Rasmussen Reports ^ | March 1, 2012 | Rasmussen

Posted on 03/02/2012 6:46:27 PM PST by Mariner

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, coming off his primary wins in Arizona and Michigan, has jumped to a 16-point lead over Rick Santorum in the battle for the Republican presidential nomination.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters shows Romney with 40% support to 24% for the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania. This is Romney's biggest lead to date and the highest level of support any GOP candidate has earned in regular surveying of the race. Two weeks ago, it was Santorum 39%, Romney 27%.

Drudge headlined this poll with the emphasis on a surge by Gingrich.

It's not the big news in this poll.

The big news is that Santorum has suffered a 28 point turnaround in two weeks. A collapse rarely seen.

I submit as a political novelty.

Romney will probably win on Super Tuesday.
In Maryland we do not vote until April 3rd.

I intend to vote for Gingrich.

I don't get to vote until June 5.

I will vote for Gingrich even if I have to write him in.

At least I'll go down with my pride intact.

But you can do a lot of things for Newt till then - here’s the latest update from the campaign calling all hands on deck... I think Tennessee and Ohio and OK are worthy of a great effort...

Field and Phone Leaders, CALLING ALL HANDS ON DECK!!
Our national phone team has successfully called through the original 18,000 volunteer sign-ups. This has resulted in a refined list of volunteer prospects for all 50 states. In 3 weeks our national call team has increased by 300%, or 50 new people per week.

Our increased call capacity will help us now begin to make calls into “Super Tuesday” states or those close by that can assist and or deploy to active states.

... YOU CAN NOW CHOOSE THE STATE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CALL

http://newtsnetwork.com/activism/pb/mobilize2.aspx?id=33

NOTE: The list filters itself by time zones. It will not show you California at 10am Eastern Time because that is 7am Pacific Time and too early to call there. Once a state’s call list opens up the state name will be added to the dropdown list for you to call. (And in the reverse, Eastern Time Zones will be removed from the list as the night wears on.)

This new reality will enable us to be highly flexible in how we operate and target prospects for GOTV and or volunteer recruitment.

Please disseminate this information to your call teams and volunteer lists.
Thank you

NEWT’S SUNDAY SCHEDULE THIS WEEKEND:

CNN, State of the Union, 9:00am ET;
C-SPAN Washington Journal; 9:30Am
NBC- Meet the Press
ABC- This Week
CBS- Face the Nation

“Two weeks ago, it was Santorum 39%, Romney 27%.”

I wonder if that fast fall is making R-icky feel like “throwing up”.

I stand with Newt.

Ok. Since all you do is bash Santorum. Fine. I really don’t care. But nobody ever answers the question of what does Newt do if all he does is win Georgia on Super Tuesday? Is that acceptable to you? He seems to think he is President if he wins Georgia. That is his home state. It is expected that you win your home state. Why this is such a story is beyond me. So you are saying that winning SC and GA are enough for him to continue? Really?

The press also senses a Gingrich resurgence. After the conservative base had their dalliance, it's time to get married.

I cannot say what Newt will do if he only wins GA on super Tuesday. However he has stated that both him and Santorum is in this till Tampa.

But I can tell you that Newt or his surrogates is spending their time in GA, TN, OH and OK right now. Then on March 7 he is in AL.

We dont have a Super Decoder ring this Data is not confidential Newt publishes it for everyone to see so they can come out an meet him. I sure he would be glad to see you at one of his events.

"what does Newt do if all he does is win Georgia on Super Tuesday?"

Naps, I too admire your zeal and insight. You, like many of us see the importance, the existential importance, of this race.

The key here is to deny Romney on all fronts to the best of every candidates ability. Even RuPaul should get our vote in some state where we can slow that train.

We CANNOT have Romney walk into Tampa with 1,144 delegates.

That is the ultimate disaster.

Some believe the SoCon message will resonate nationwide, some believe the quirky small (l)ibertarian Gingrich will. Some believe the big (L)ibertarian Paul will resonate best.

We have 3 conviction candidates and one Bill Clinton without his superior political skills.

Encourage the anti-Romney in every small town...the one most able to win.

Discourage the also-ran anti-Romney, hell tear them down, when another anti-Romney has a better chance.

Oh, and I believe Gingrich will take two states. GA and either TN or OK on the 6th. The following week AL is almost a sure thing.

Once things move to the big dogs, both TX and CA will give Gingrich a plurality if not a majority vote later this spring. Remember, the other big states FLA was neutered by the roles to get only 1/2 of the delegates.

There's still an EPIC primary ahead of us, followed by an epic general election.

Enjoy it, AND FIGHT. With EVERY BREATH. The commies are knocking on your door right now.

Rick Klein,Senior Washington editor at ABC, on Greta tonight reminding us that neither Newt or Santorum will be on the Va. ballot. Greta amazed that they could have failed to do so.(ie been so stupid).

Rick didn’t try and some of Newt’s signatures, 1500, were found to be invalid. Mitt, is that you checking them? I smell a huge rat.

Rick Santorum could have been the Conservative voice in 2012. But, he could not keep his mouth shut when he needed too. Dude is NOT smart enough to speak “off the cuff”. It’s to the point now that every time he opens his mouth, I cringe; not knowing what stupid thing he’s going to say. Like, every time he reads JFK’s speech on Separation of Church and State he “wants to vomit”. Real classy there Rick. Or contraception is “bad for America”. Oh yeah; that would win him the women’s vote in November because only 92 percent of American women have used, or presently use, contraceptives. I root for him to win Delegates because I want to see this thing go to a Brokered Convention and possibly someone end up with the nomination who is not one of the current Final Four of March Madness; Kook-daddy (Paul) and the Three Stooges (Ricky, Newt and Mittens)

JUST DAMN!!!

I'm wondering why there have been no Posts on here encouraging Newt's and Rick's supporters in Virginia to vote for Ron Paul on Tuesday. Kook-daddy will not get the nomination anyhow, and that would slow RINO-Rom's momentum and be a dreadful loss for him. Are there not enough anti-Romney votes to stop him when he has just one opponent? Maybe it's time for the anti-Romney vote to put up or shut up. If not, hell, let's just go ahead and coronate RINO-Rom now. Kook-Daddy came in Third in VA in '08, so this is doable. But, then, many Conservatives are so divisive and mean-spirited they couldn't unite to stop a toddler from running out into highway traffic. We deserve what we get.
