(CNN) -- One day, California wakes up and every single Latino has inexplicably disappeared. No business owner, doctor, nurse, soldier, teacher, entertainer, athlete or politician can be found. No bus driver, farm worker, cook, gardener or nanny. All gone. California -- the ninth largest economy in the world -- grinds to a halt because Latinos have vanished. Chaos and tragedy follow. This scenario is what Sergio Arau's satiric film, "A Day Without a Mexican," explores.
This modern-day fable provides a cautionary tale on the assumptions we make about the 11 million unauthorized immigrants who live and work in America every day.
An oft-repeated mantra used to malign these "economic refugees" -- a term that more closely defines who they actually are, rather than the inflammatory "illegal immigrant" -- is that they don't pay taxes. They send their kids to our schools, and they don't pay taxes. They earn their wages, and they don't pay income tax. Such incendiary assertions are coded language designed explicitly to generate a negative reaction. The facts, which most people don't know, refute such claims entirely.Sales tax. Like everyone in the country, every time a refugee goes to a store and buys something, they pay sales tax. They buy milk; they pay sales tax. They buy shoes; they pay sales tax. They buy a television; they pay sales tax.
Property tax. When refugees rent -- whether it's in an apartment building, a room in a house or a house -- a portion of that rent is passed on to the landlord, who pays property tax to the state.

You are right, it is just the tip of the iceberg. Add in the costs if just one of their children becomes a thug or thugina. In and out of the courts, bogging down the whole system- then if sentenced to jail, rehab. or other programs, all costs are paid by the rest of us. Not to mention Juan and Maria are likely on every liberal program out there.
I don't think that it changed.. I think the newspaper employee is woefully incompetent.
I recall a news item a few years ago about Mexicans asking the U.S. Embassy if they could volunteer to join the U.S. military and be permitted entry into the U.S. The answer was No. You had to be a legal resident to join the U.S. military.
I was thinking of Louis Armstrong’s song...”What a wonderful world”.
Yeah . . . . . . . . Imagine that . . . all those welfare leaches could be cut off and put to useful work and our economy would boom plus the government would get a lot more tax income (double meaning intended). Not to mention the resultant reduction in crime.
Walmart would go bankrupt quicker than you can say ‘braf’...
So what Charles Garcia is really calling for is an abolition of income taxes?
Out there?
In Texas 70% of Illegal Aliens Receive Welfare
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2011/04/in-texas-70-of-illegal-aliens-receive-welfare/
Texas 2006:
500,000 illegals and their supporters march on downtown Dallas Texas, making demands and threats, during war time yet, while Republican Bush celebrated Cinco de Mayo up in the White House.
Unemployment for citizens no more.
14 million jobs open up.
Of course, now employers have to pay at least minimum wages.
Currently those (Dems/RINO’s) crying for legalization of illegals spout the 12 million number (which they got from ???? last night’s pot roast-inspired dreams?).
But just as the Govt sells a new program (i.e. Obamacare) with deception and untruths. Once the law is passed to legalize the “12 million” (plus all their claimed “relatives”), once it is too late, the number magically turns out to be more like 30+ million. Just like new weapons systems....i.e. the new airplane said to cost 25 million that ends up costing 100 million per plane.
I am very sorry I posted this story. Clearly Russell County man indicted in scheme to transport immigrants who has been deported 8 times
his wife was caught trying to transport five illegal immigrants to Florida,Delgado, who said hed get paid $500 for his role, apparently I guess is accepted criminal behavior as these crimes are less thought of and mispelling a word is a far greater crime, than what the above illegals did. It appears their crimes are meaningless much like this illegal alien who was deported 8 times, is less newsworthy. However mispelling a word is breaking news.Stop the press. I feel like I am back in high school again. Maybe another post under chit chat should be posted to direct attention to this breaking news, a word has been mispelled, our reporters will soon be bringing you crucial, vital breaking news of how horrible spelling error and how it supercedes, the following crimes, harboring illegal immigrants, deported 8 times,
Jimenez-Delgado, who said hed got paid $500, Jessica Elmer who has $ 6000 on her person be only minor infractions and i suppose they will get bail and never be seen again, not that it matters, what is really very vital, here is mispelling a word. I am sorry I spolied your day.
How ‘bout an entire century without a Mexican?
Why settle for just one day?
And if illegals are so great for us.....why isn't LA a paradise?
One day, California wakes up and every single Latino has inexplicably disappeared......now almost everybody on the road has liability insurance and a driver’s license for once!
"Well, um, I'll have a Coke, then."
Reminded me of the joke from “Boondock Saints”.
I’m filing this one in my stuned beeber, cheesy moose-bite, and clymer/fluke file. Getting popcorn, too...
Not all Latinos are Mexican.
