I think the twisting of the student’s words is actionable. Rush said she “testified” to Congress that she “had SO much sex” that she was going broke, had to spend $3,000/year or maybe over the 3 years. He heavily implied she was promiscuous and even called her a prostitute. In reality she may be taking the pills to regulate her periods, and may not even be having sexual relations. He just went nuts on this and I sat in stunned disbelief. So yes, it is actionable, or at least colorable so that he cannot have it easily dismissed on a motion for summary judgment. This allows for Discovery, and this may prove embarrassing for her, but as a died-in-the-wool activist, she may not mind. But it could open up all of Rush’s assets for discovery plus full disclosure of any complaints against him in the past etc. And it is not a slam dunk that she would be proven a “public figure”. She was a subpeonaed witness before Congress. Another test is was Rush malicious? Well, he demanded that her sexual escapades be live-streamed on line. I mean!? Crazy. Snerdly needs to buy a shock collar.

Broadcasting is a lonely job.Its just you out there by yourself, living or dying. This is why you often see many hosts trying to bring in a board op,call screener, whatever for a little moral support.

Every time they do its a huge mistake. Most of these guys only want to be sitting where you are sitting.

In this case they(social issues) are the ultimate trap. The left has nothing at all to run on.

To win in Nov. they have to demonize us any way they can. When JOrge Stephyonopolous brought up the contraception issue, there was no issue,it was not even being discussed, it was all contrived. Thus a rat trap.Unfortunately it worked.

Re your #208, I recall Rush telling the candidates over the past year to NOT get sidetracked into social issues. He knew it was a trap but yet he forgot it. Unreal. I hope he goes back and plays the tape where he was screaming this from the roof tops, and he, of all people, faltered. Bad boy, Rush.

You get the prize! I should have said it just like you did, exactly correct.

Excellent summary once again.

We are talking about a guy who did radio on drugs and deaf for several months. He's in his own league.NO one else could do what he has done or does. He Just needs to get back to his own created basics a little bit more, and he will.

Basically Limbaugh dug a hole. Instead of filling it in he dug a littel bit more. Its a screw up,he remains mortal.

He didn’t do anything we all do on the air given enough time and enough rope.Wonder if the issue would have been played up so big if chris matthews or the rev. al had said something as dumb?Nahhhh......Never forget the double standard.

Wow, I would hope that “sound bite” (that his daughter was an expense) wouldn’t come back to haunt him. It did not come across that way to me at all. It came across as Wallace hounding him about why he didn’t pay more.

I think I would have turned the tables and asked Wallace how much HE gave to charity, and by the way, Chris, why not ask a more relevant question like about, oh, I don’t know....the economy????

Well, that is my biggest worry for Rush....whether anything is suitworthy.

I listened to a lot of his last three days and I must say, it WAS entertaining. Rush was demonstrating the absurd by being absurd.

This whole Sandra Fluke testimony thing was ridiculous BEFORE Rush ever uttered a word. First off, $3,000 for three years of contraception is a crock. Even if you wanted to pay that much for "contraception", do you know what tuition is for Georgetown? $1,000 a year is miniscule, comparatively. This woman is an activist. She chose Georgetown to try to force them to change their rules. She was president of Law Students for Reproductive Justice (??? WTH???)

This whole issue came about because our new dictators (obama and the healthcare panel) have decided what is best for us. Right now it is that we must have "free" contraception. Well, there is nothing free, so now my insurance will cost more so others may take advantage of "free" contraception. Just like when obama decided that insurance MUST offer healthcare to children up to the age of 26, my insurance costs went up...same for all the "free" prevntative mandates. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH.

But now, we are hearing testimony in Congress how some poor starving law students need others to cover the cost of their contraception because they want it but don't want to fork out the extra bucks. .......and I haven't even mentioned the morality of demanding that others violate their conscience with this mandate.

Here's Kathleen Sebelious justifying why this is such a grand idea. Rep. Tim Murphy Questions HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius This is VERY serious stuff. (money quote is at the end of the exchange)

its all diversion so we don’t talk about taking in 180 billion per month and spending 300 billion or 4 dollar gas headed to 5.

I know. I know. HHS K. Sebelius is pure-bred Roman Catholic. Stebelius attended Catholic girls schools and then college in DC run by the nuns of Notre Dame. Her father is former Ohio Governor John Gilligan. How did she become spawn of satan? The Bishops better start minding their flocks.

BTW the “apology” is very helpful in cutting off the suit prospects.

Newt is rocking Gregory’s world on Meet The Press. He is awesome.

Just caught it online. Unbelievable! Let's say we had to make the case for conservatism in a court of law. How in the world could you pick anyone other than Newt to argue for your side? He absolutely destroyed Gregory and made the argument for our side on every single issue as clear as day. Which is why we need him to run for president and take this case directly to the American people. This is one of the best interviews I've seen Newt give yet.

As good as this is its also why Newt is not challenging Romney or in first place with the most delegates.

Newt started off telling DNC dave the truth that the dems have nada to run on so they have invented contraception.BUt, then Newt caves and starts talking about even more social issues which are not the issues of the day he stated what the issues of the day are, debt, energy, the budget, etc. etc.

Newt caved.

He went half way and then caved. That's why he's running # 3 or 4,he goes part way not all the way,he caves.

I doubt most people would pick up on it—maybe I’ve become paranoid about our corrupt, evil press but I’ve seen them twist little things, nothings really, into big things with some success and I worry every time I hear one of our guys say something that can be twisted.

I think the problem was that he let Wallace push him around with it as though he was guilty of something which he was NOT!

I agree that he should have shut them down right off—’In the face of a multi-trillion and growing deficit, do you really think my charity amount is an issue. Let’s stick to issues and not personal attacks, Chris!”

I could see Newt saying something like that and the attack would die on Wallace’s lips.

I’m not sure how one can argue birth control needs for a lesbian? Maybe someone can tell me.

Fluke is a feminist activist. Period. She has no standing as an expert of anything else as far as I’m concerned. It was also revealed, today, that her so-called testimony was a setup before a Democrat only panel and NOT an official House hearing. The actual hearing before Issa’s committee never happened and the Democrats concocted this one to embarrasses Republicans.

Rush routinely uses absurdity to expose the absurd. Rush also uses satire effectively to skewer the left. I don’t have a problem with either.

I listened to Rush and his reasoning today and I don’t buy it. I think Rush was right from the get-go and he should not have apologized. I do understand his reasoning but I prefer an unleashed Rush to someone who has to couch every response and position because of someone taking offense and being PC. In this aspect, Andrew Brietbart would not have backed off, IMHO.

Never the less, those advertisers who dropped Rush won’t be getting any more of my money and I plan on telling them why. Same reasons I don’t buy Levi’s, shop at Costco or Radio Shack and I use the liberal do-not-buy-from lists to point out those companies I’ll purchase from. I also dropped Comcast for phone and TV for the same reason. I have to keep their internet service for now but I’m looking for alternatives.
