As one who was there when the bussing began our Jr High was turned upside down from the infusion of yute from across town. A few wanted to study but the rest only wanted to disrupt the classes. Or start fights. And woe be unto those that got in the way of the stampede when the lunch bell rang.

Before bussing, nothing every happened at our school After bussing, they locked us in our classrooms and pulled down those big metal gates in the hallways and you didn't want to get caught in the stairwells. Yes, totally against fire rules but it was to keep down the violence. Big surprise, my family moved the following year.
