Look at it as an oppurtunity, some bright entrepenure has a chance to get his product introduced to a huge audience as long as Rush has 2 million listeners, He will have advertisers lining up

Rush spent the first half hour of his show on this topic. These lists of sponsors that supposedly left Rush that are floating around are bogus.

Most were never sponsors to begin with so how could they leave?

“...we’re talking 18,000 different sponsors, okay? ABC News, who understands how this works and are purposely misrepresenting it, is out there ballyhooing that we have lost 28 sponsors. Twenty-eight sponsors out of 18,000! That’s like losing a couple of french fries in the container when it’s delivered to you at the drive-thru. You don’t even notice it.”

But here in NYC , 770 WABC , there were noticeably more Ad Council ads or similar PSAs. I cannot recall what were the real commercials.

I don’t believe it’s entirely correct either...we use Geico and I called their marketing department today and was told that Geico hasn’t advertised on Rush’s show since 2004...nothing to do with the Fluke incident...

I’m sure going to miss those Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington and Philadelphia Orchestra commercials.

He only has about 18,000 sponsors like he said it is like losing a couple of fry’s from a serving.

What percentage is this of his sponsors? I am trying to get a feel for if this really hurts him.

Might be local radio advertisers.

Yes, or regional. They certainly aren't all EIB advertisers. As with all talk shows, Rush's show leaves "holes" for stations to fill with local and regional advertising (you hear a parody commercial or PSA if the station can't fill that spot).

Many of these are local advertisers — I do not think the person who posted this even listens to RUSH — he would know which are national advertisers versus local. I pay this no mind. Rush is not going off the air!!

Yep; this is just one instance why this list is laughable. The Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington have never used paid advertising, not even locally. Just PSAs.

Penny’s is already on my “Don’t Shop” list because of the way they are pushing Ellen Degenerate.

Sorry to hear about Sears - I’ve appreciated Craftsman tools. However, I read an article last week (FR?) saying that Sears looks like it’s going under. Dropping Rush because of someone (Fluke) who advocated mandatory insurance coverage for sex change operations is the height of stupidity for a company which was once considered iconic Norman Rockwell America.

When I was a small boy, my grandmother’s outhouse always had an out-of-date Sears, Roebuck & Co. catalog for reading & ...umm...”sanitary” material. It looks like Sears new sales flyers may have to revive that great tradition. (not really...Charmin or its equivalent, works better. Not very interesting as reading material, though)

He said today that there are 18,000 national, regional and local advertisers and approximately 28 had decided to not advertise. Which means that 0.1555% is the reduction in advertising. He already has new advertisers in the national spots.

Here is Rush’s perspective on the matter:

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2012/03/07/clearing_up_misinformation_on_our_sponsors?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

If we think Rush is going to be hurt by the loss of advertisers, we are going into unnecessary hyperbole. Rush will be OK.

Also remember that Sears owns K-Mart. I’ve only really bought anything from JC Penney’s and K-Mart, but even then, it’s probably not enough for a personal boycott to be of much interest to them.

Rush mentioned that he might have 18,000 advertisers and the people that dropped his show were about normal for the average.

Why do I get the feeling this "list" is padded to the max?

What the Fluke?

OK, so the media story line that he is precipitously leaking advertisers is sheer propaganda....what a surprise.
