Polls show slight Gingrich edge in Ala., Miss.

MERIDIAN, Miss. – A pair of new polls are giving hope to Newt Gingrich’s Deep South strategy, as he stresses religion and steps up attacks on rival Rick Santorum.

The former U.S. House Speaker leads in Mississippi according to an American Research Group poll out Friday morning has Gingrich leading with 35 percent, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 31 percent and Santorum at 20 percent.

A Rasmussen Poll of Alabama shows a dead heat: Gingrich at 30 percent, Santorum at 29 and Romney at 28.

......Santorum is best known as a strident social conservative, but while representing Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate he had some lapses from the conservative line that his foes have been eager to highlight. The Gingrich campaign gathered allies on a conference call with reporters Friday morning to remind them of Santorum’s vote against a national right-to-work law and support for big federal spending in the early 2000s.....

Santorum supporters have been urging Gingrich to drop out of the race since Super Tuesday, when Gingrich won his old home state of Georgia but no other contests. Gingrich only has wins in South Carolina and Georgia and trails Romney and Santorum in unofficial Associated Press delegate tallies, but the Gingrich campaign points out that he has a narrow lead on Santorum in pledged delegates – a count that does not include delegates from caucus states like Iowa that could flip later to another candidate.

Gingrich did not mention Santorum and only briefly referenced Romney’s well-funded campaign during a speech to about 200 people in Meridian on Friday morning. Gingrich did devote prominent mention to what he views as threats to religious liberty from the Obama administration and the judiciary....

I’m hoping that Newt can pull this off.

Santorum is going to get hit by adds that constantly replay his “Satan controls all aspects of America, such as media, academia and mainline churches” sermon.

Newt will be hit by “he has been married three times.”

Somehow I imagine that the coveted moderates will be more repulsed by the Satan claims than by the three wives things.

Either guy is much preferred to the Romulan Commander.

Come on NEWT. AL and MS need a State wide GOTV for Newt.

Voting is severly down compared to the 2008 Primaries.

Turnout is Huge. Newt lost winning all of GA 76 Delegates by roughly 25,000 votes.

And Satan loves the fact that people don’t believe he is real and destroying this country. Jesus had much to say about this fallen angel. It would behoove others to do their research on the subject.

The Romney PAC negative attack ads on Newt have just started here on radio.

At least on the conservation radio station WVNN, I hope regular informed listeners are on to Mitt’s negative tricks.

Voters in Alabama and Mississippi need to get out for Newt; their relatives in other states need to contact them and tell them to learn about Newt — then GO vote! And take a friend.

That PLEDGED delegate count is a huge selling point. I hope he hammers it home.

He is treating the other two flame throwers gingerly, given the close race. I pray to God the religious Right wakes up!

They have a tendency to vote for what is said over the real record.

Rick Santorum campaigns on family values and legislates to the unions, and with the RINO Establishment, never to do one single thing for family values when in office and in a position to do so.

Every. Single. Time.

When the new Trek came out there was awebsite that you could morph your face in a Spock. I was looking for it for Romney but have not been able to find it.

Can you do “call in” radio shows?

Where’s Rick’s accomplishment on these family values he always campaigns on but never legislates. You can’t find them. He legislates to unions and with RINOS every single time.

Newt started a revolution that not only SAVED the Republican party, and Congress, but brought it to a historic majority after 40 years in the desert!

Now THAT is an accomplishment on the record, if records mean anything.

Newt started a revolution that not only SAVED the Republican party, and Congress, but brought it to a historic majority after 40 years in the desert!

UNLIKE Rick and Mitt, Newt Gingrich didn't sit on his laurels complaining about the liberal political landscape of his state. Newt CHANGED the political landscape in GA (as he did in Washington), brought Democrats into the party, rallied people to get involved in politics -- all by pushing conservatism.

________________________________________

"ATLANTA — It wasn't so long ago that the Republican Party in Georgia was just an afterthought, and Democrats were in firm control of all the levers of state government. Back then, Newt Gingrich and other die-hard GOP stalwarts ventured across the state with the far-fetched message that Republicans could reverse the tide.

Now with commanding majorities in the Statehouse and control of all statewide offices, Gingrich is hoping his vision for how the GOP could overcome decades of Democratic dominance in Georgia will pay dividends. He sorely needs a victory when his home state votes Tuesday, along with a big chunk of its 76 delegates, to prove his stumbling presidential bid has staying power.

Many Republican figures in Georgia still credit him with championing conservative policies, outlining a framework for what a GOP majority in the state could accomplish and broadcasting talking points to a generation of up-and-coming conservative leaders. He's also applauded for lobbying conservative Democrats, like then-Rep. Nathan Deal, to switch parties.

"Everyone else was trying to lose as slowly as possible, and to die with dignity at the Alamo. He was talking confidently that the Republican majority in Georgia, in the South and nationally was right around the corner," said Ralph Reed, a veteran Georgia GOP operative who founded the national Faith and Freedom Coalition. "On the one hand it was crazy, but on the other it was just the most exciting thing you've ever heard.".....................In Ga., Gingrich helped build conservative base

I think Newt needs to emphasize REELECTABILITY over electability. We can’t afford to nominate someone who isn’t competent, experienced and will do a good job as President. If our President does a bad job, we’ll lose Congress in 2 years and lose the presidency in 4 years, creating a powerful liberal majority with a mandate. Just focusing on who can get elected in November is dangerously shortsighted. Let’s look back to Newt’s sweep in 1994 after which we held onto Congress for 12 years and the Presidency for 14 years, partly because Newt did such a good job running things while he was there.

Hopefully you can show the voters that research and the proof that Satan is causing all the problems in this country. Perhaps Saintorum could declare War on Satan, pass the Anti-Satan Act and create a Department of Anti-Satan Security while he's at it. We have ourselves a winning issue for November...

Jesus already declared war on Satan, and defeated him at the cross. Once again - your attempt at humor plays right into the devil’s MO - pretend he doesn’t exist. You are a tool and don’t realize it.

When God was outlawed in our schools, when evil is rampant, who do you think is behind this? Get a clue.

The humor is meant to show that’s a bad issue for a national political campaign. It’s a good theological discussion to have, but it’s not going to work with enough people to win a national election. The issues need to be discussed without referencing the explicit beliefs of any particular religion.
