I'm learning to say 'y'all' and 'I like grits!: Romney tries to sell himself as an 'unofficial Southerner' as he struggles in the South
Will he try to be da homeboy when he speaks in front of blacks? THAT should be fun!!
Why, bless his little heart.
Looks like he had his Juan F kerry “Kin ah git me a huntin license hear” moment.
So many politicians do this sh*t. Whether talking to blacks, southerners or whomever, they think some false effort at talking like them gains acceptance.
That fakery by Hillary in 2008 was priceless. Not only did she try (and failed badly) to effect a black drawl when reading that poem in a black church, but she continued to try to do the “southern girl” thing while campaigning in southern states.
Pathetic, irritating and condescending.
You’re just playing the Marxists’ game. The loathsome Kennedy Family has ten times the money of Romney and was arguably the country’s most ruthless organized crime family in the last century, but it doesn’t matter because few know it. The biggest failing of American conservatives of the last 40 years is failing to create a media and a culture of conservatism that treats it as well as the Rancid Media have kissed the asses of the Kennedys and their assorted grotesque political allies. Conservatives have only themselves to blame.
Why I could never be a politician. I could never claim to like grits with a straight face.
Well heck fire, that there’s nothin’, Al Gore cleared the land with a double-bladed axe. And after than he done ate all his taters’
I’m a transplanted Yankee.
The first time I ever had grits, in Charleston SC, I put butter on them then sugar and milk.
The ol Georgia boys at the table were like WTF?
I thought they were cream of wheat!
Man they won’t ever let me live that **** down!
ya know someone ought to tell him hes not in another country when he comes to the South...
we’ve been part of the US for quite some time...
Fer instance Tennessee was a state 100 years before Utah...
TN 1796 the 16th state
UT after 1890
so hes not visitin with peons when he comes here...
Hes hobnobbing with his betters...
so he better be more respectful...
or we wont offer him no white lightnin...
“Aww don’t feel noways tired....”
He comes across as condescending and trying too hard to be a regular guy. Why doesn’t he repeat some of the statements he made about guns in Mass.? Obviously he doesn’t think of the 2nd Amendment as a God given Right For ALL Americans but as a right depending on what state you live in. I doubt he knows the difference in “You’all” and “Youn’s”.
“Can I get me a hunt’n license in heyah”.
LLS
Next he'll be singing "Zip-A-Dee Doo Da" while strolling along a footpath underneath some magnolia trees.
Okay, that’s not pandering, that’s condescension. Which doesn’t go over well here in the South.
Spoken like a true metrosexual. Learned nothing from Hitlary. His three “home states” and carpet bag tell y’all that he not going to for local.
The man’s totally detached. He basically summed the South up as a tired old stereotype; grits and accents. If he’d thrown in a hound dog, a pickup truck, a banjo and a pair of overalls he’d have covered all the bases. Seems most folks that don’t live here learned everything they know about the South from watching Gone with the Wind.
Kerry's huntin' license, Hillary's incredibly boolshite southern accent, and now Romney's pandering.
What is it about Northern/Eastern politicians campaigning in the South that turns them into idiots.
Quick Mitt, what's the plural of y'all?
“I’m learning to say ‘y’all’ and ‘I like grits!”
And this southerner may throw up.
