My guess is he's a "Mustang" with at least 10 years service as an NCO before OCS. He just doesn't look "Prissy" enough to be a "college boy" officer and that would explain his deep concern for his Marine's lives.

He was an All American Wrestler as the U.S. Naval Academy and served in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He earned a Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He was killed in combat in Iraq.
