In my town everyone goes to Wallmart. It’s like the Px on an Army post. See the Ltc’’s wife dressed in jeans and comparing fruit with the sergeant’s wife.

Mine too. On any given Saturday afternoon, it’s generally the busiest place in town. I think 90% town winds up shopping there at some point. It’s two miles away from my country home and I think that’s a good selling point actually.

Same thing in a lot of smaller Pennsylvania towns. Walmart is the only major store and it's the shopping mecca, especially on Saturdays, the busiest day of the week. I should know, I used to work there. When I saw this thread I chuckled. I had no idea the line could be perceived in a negative way. It was just a simple joke saying that the most crowded location on the weekend was probably empty because Newt had everybody with him. The joke doesn't work if you say McDonald's was empty because they can't hold a big crowd. Of course once I moved to the urban suburbs I started meeting the snobs who would "never" shop at Walmart.
