You know I used to be gung ho back the military actions no matter, i wanted to support my government, but over the last couple of years, I have really changed my tune.
Unless it is an real threat, such as September 11, we have absolutely no business going into these countries.
It makes me sick, there is none of our find young men who have died (and women) whose death is worth the life of these donkees as Ishmael is described in Bible

You realize we are in Afghanistan because of September 11 right?

I mean, I get your point and generally agree - but Afghanistan was supposedly the "good war" because we are there because of 9/11.

Personally, I'd have been fine just flattening the place until all opposition from every quarter ceased. I would not have made all these efforts to separate the people from the government. Not saying we should attack/bomb friendlies in country, only that we should hold the people responsible for the government that was in power and fight to win till they properly surrender and accept whatever we impose on them. Any villages or towns that continued to resist would simply be destroyed and all the inhabitants killed if necessary.

I too used to be a member of the “Kill them all and let God sort them out” clique. Not so much any more.

I came to realize that I do not care how these people live. I do not care if their women go to schools. I do not care if they buy iPads or have Android phones. I do not care if they wish to swarm around a rock in the middle of the desert.

I am not so callous as to think I am better than them. I don’t know them. I am sure they love their children. They certainly love their “god.” Good for them.

I just know that I prefer to have my friends and their children alive and in one piece. Not doing patrols out in some hell hole where the enemy are incapable of hurting me—but very capable of hurting my countrymen.

I used to believe my government. Now I do not.

I see we are paying $5 a gallon for gas because we cannot keep our fingers out of their business. I believe if we left them alone to worship their rock, that gas would drop and they would lose their power.

And I also believe that attacks on us should be responded to with disproportionate force: We leave them alone and they leave us alone. That means no free help at all. No food, no medicine, nothing. If they want it, pay for it—or trade for it. If they attack us, we respond with unbelievable carange. And then we leave them alone again.

I think that would work fine. At least, I am willing to give it a shot.

Are you saying you want another Sept 11 to happen before we do anything?

We are there because of Sept. 11. Don't you remember that it was Bin Laden who orchestrated the attacks...he gained his strength through his position in Afganistan.

If the extreme Islamist element isn't neutralized in Afganistan and Pakistan we face more terror attacks. That's why we're there.
