My opinion of Condi got worse, after reading Cheney’s book.
And, quite frankly, Condi never performed well in an interview...and probably wouldn’t do well in a debate.
And her esume is a little thin, if you really think about it. As far as I know, she has never held elected office.

I think what Newt is hinting at is the fact that his and Santorums delegates could exceed Romneys, and deals could be made. That is the way it appears to be headed. It will depend on what Santorum is willing to do, because he will probably have more delegates than Gingrich.

2 Southerners on the same ticket are not good for disillusioned Northern Independents and may be seen as a drawback though.
It's not just the two Southerners aspect, it's also the fact that Perry never did well once the race heated up. You need somebody who is going to bring a lot more people to the table. If Perry couldn't fire up enough people to push him through the primaries as a candidate for the GOP nomination, he probably won't be able to do as a VP candidate.
I'm not a big fan of Perry's, but there is room for him within a Gingrich administration. After all, Perry went to China and convinced the Chinese to invest billions of dollars into Texas oilfields, which led to 10s of thousands of new jobs in Texas. Meanwhile Obama is pissing away our energy industry and is not out there drumming up business for a lot of out-of-work folks.
