Obama approval rating dives to 41%

It was 50% last month and despite relatively good economic news lately, this doesn't seem to correlate into higher numbers for the president.

CBS:

_______________________

"President Obama's approval rating has hit the lowest level ever in CBS News polling, according to the latest CBS News/New York Times survey. The drop may be partially attributable to rising gas prices.

Just 41 percent of Americans approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing as president, according to the poll, conducted from March 7 to 11. Another 47 percent disapprove of his performance, up from 41 percent last month.

Mr. Obama's approval rating was 50 percent last month. The average U.S. price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 12 cents over the past two weeks. The poll found that most Americans, 54 percent, believe gas prices are something a president can do a lot about.

Americans have historically felt that a president can control gas prices, though experts attribute changes to a variety of factors, many outside of a president's control. They also felt this way when gas prices spiked during the administration of former President George W. Bush.

[...]

Mr. Obama's job rating on the economy remains about the same as it was last month - 39 percent approve, while 54 percent disapprove.

The economy and jobs remains the most important problem facing the country today, according to 51 percent of Americans. Three in four Americans think the economy is at least somewhat bad, including 30 percent who say it is very bad.

______________________

Actually, the time to have done something about gas prices was three years ago when he first took office. Of course there's little he can do now except open the spigot on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve -

These are Barry’s friends and toadies conducting these “polls” and reporting the news. Just imagine what the REAL numbers must be.

——In October, when gas prices ease to $3.50/gallon, all will be well, the public will be thrilled at what Obama has done for him, and will march to the polls and make the “smart” choice, as directed by the enemedia.-——

Sometimes I think this way, too. But this depends on Obama doing something, ANYTHING, to increase supply, which he seems viscerally unable to do.

Certainly he could wait until November to destroy U.S. energy production, but he seems to be unable to resist. doing it now. It’s like catnip for him.

The Potemkin Economy he is trying to create is not fooling anybody, even libs..........

Witness the warning pollster Stan Greenberg is trying to give them. Go down this path and you'll get your butt whooped for being a failure, AND a liar.

Obama isn’t a genius but he is a politician with a lot of handlers and training in the Chicago way.

Make some noises about drilling, and open the strategic reserve, coupled with the natural price drop as the summer season ends. Even Obama can manage that.

But I agree with you, he does seem to be impatient about destroying America as it is currently constituted.

This really frosts me! Yes, we are all upset about gas prices. It’s not like we don’t know what to do about it! It’s not like it hasn’t been talked to death since the mid 1990s. It’s not like we don’t have the largest oil reserves in the world. It’s not like excising a few government regs woldn’t go a long way in “fixing” the current gas price crisis.

But a spike in prices causes Obama’s numbers to fall suddenly. What about all the other negative stuff he’s done? Doesn’t that matter to the American people?

Poor handling of the war
Apologizing all over the world
Fast and Furious
Mis-managing elections
Obamacare
Interfering with freedom of religion
Israel
Mis-managing the debt
And on
and on
and on.

“What about all the other negative stuff he’s done? Doesn’t that matter to the American people?”

Are the smart phones working?
Is American Idol, or Real Housewives of Hoboken on TV?

Then the answer is, nope, they don’t care.

....or perhaps he has too many balls in the air...energy, obamacare, immigration, banking, voting rights, social programs, debt...and as we approach the tipping point, things are starting to spiral out of his (or anyones) control. Remember, these are RATS. They are made up of more different factions than the GOP, each more than eager to sell their vote on any fellow traveler's agenda in order to insure the passage of their own.

To use the worn out expression, it is THE 'kitchen table issue.' Nothing grabs the attention of the sheeple more than an increase in gasoline prices. That the media is even covering it at all is an indication of how serious this issue is for the what's his name.

I do fear the price of gasoline could be manipulated prior to the election. If it can be done, the puppet master will do it.

Makes sense to me and I hope you are on the high side. I hate to admit that 32% of Americans are actually totally unaware of the truth or don’t have the brains to understand it. Those are the only two reasons I can think of for anyone to approve...oh, wait, I forgot to allow for those who stand to gain by having him reelected. Of course in the long run even they will lose but who thinks more than fifteen minutes ahead now.

“Seems to be” are the operative words, there AIN’T NO RECOVERY AND THERE AIN’T GONNA BE NO RECOVERY NOTIME SOON. Anything that may look like a recovery is an illusion.

I’ve made my peace with it FRiend. However, I will continue to vote Republican until the left makes it illegal to do so. I will say, at this point, it’s less than useful, most Republicans are politicians first and foremost, meaning they couldn’t care less about the public.

This is not MY country. It’s a place where I’ve lived, and created a family and a home. But this place bears little resemblance to the place I grew up in.

Furthermore, this is the remnants of a representative republic. The majority will decide the country’s direction, even if the majority is ill informed, or worse, misinformed.

Over the course of history, countries rise and fall. We are witnessing the fall of America. How far? How catastrophic? I have no clue, but I’m certain we are witnessing her final act as the world leader. These things happen. The reasons are many and varied, but the forces in play are beyond restraint now. The biggest being a populace that doesn’t value what America once was.

So, I come here, complain, but also note what I see. If it weren’t so painful, it would truly be amazing to watch. And I understand how many of the things happened in Soviet Russia where I’d scratch my head and say: “How could they do that?” I’m learning.
