These on the religious right IMHO, are right out of the Bush camp. When they see him falter much further they will on que draft Jeb Bush.

The RINOS gave us Myth Romney and then there’s RINO Number Two, Rick Santorum, who is no threat to anything, or anybody. Never has been, never will be.

The RINOS are thrilled tonight so long as Newt stays dead.

Tragedy has struck, UNLESS, we make it to convention with the delegates from all three.

Thank you for your comment. Ironically, I was a donor to Santorum’s campaign, and then decided that Newt was the better man for the job. I’m in Newt’s camp 100% now, but there is no question that I’d rather see Santorum than Romney as the nominee.

I’m with you Gator. Though I would guarantee you RS won’t get the gop nomination.

Well, that would be nice, but it’s going to be hard to convince the guy with the most delegates, the most votes, and the “best” organization that he should quit so that the 2nd and 3rd place finishers can have the field.

If conservatives want to win this election, they are going to have to take it. That means selling a conservative message, which whichever candidate can catch on, but with all conservatives selling a positive message and converting the GOP rank and file that either conservative would be better than Romney.

The more we play this like some game, or make excuses while candidates skip states and then fail to win their “must-win” states, the more we play into the end game that gives us Romney.

Mercifully, my work didn’t go for naught: Newt won my precinct.

Congrats! I thought of you all day. I seriously thought Newt would take Mississippi. I thought that Santorum would take Alabama after I saw that Huckabee took it in 2008. Anyway, have a great night!!!!

Remember, the goal is not to get Rick or Newt in as the nominee per se but to stop Mitt Romney.

The contention is whether that is best accomplished with a two- or three man race.

How does Santorum DEFEATING Romney help Obama?

Gator - I voted for Santorum today. If Newt is the nominee I will vote for him. If Romney is the nominee I will vote for him. If a little bunny rabbit is our nominee I will vote for him. If Obama eats my bunny rabbit I will vote for the carcass of the bunny rabbit. But unlike you I WILL vote. Good luck getting what you want with your strategy.

Some of you people are dancing at the idea of a brokered convention.

Not sure what you think would happen there that you would like.

A brokered convention scares me. Too much wheeling and dealing and the people’s choice gets lost.

I hope either Santorum or Gingrich gets it and right now it’s looking like Santorum.

It’s disappointing that people are so clueless to vote for Santorum. What is with the morons in this nation? Obama, Romney, Santorum? The race will be between Obama and Romney. I wouldn’t vote for either or Santorum. I’d rather write in a worthy candidate. We had a chance to elect somebody who could help fix this mess. What a waste. Oh well, I guess they never learn.

It’s all good in the neighborhood, lol. Thanks, gcatz. :^)

I’ve had my moments, lol, but the Gingrich/Santorum divide hasn’t been one...at least yet!

Santorum is a flawed and pious little fraud.

Sorry but, uh, Specter was in a Senate primary against a Conservative, Pat Toomey. Dede was the Republican congressional candidate in an election against a Democrat. The stakes were higher. Santorum was more in the wrong.

Katie,
Instead of complaining why Santorum won, why not do SOMETHING to ensure that Newt wins a third state. Seriously, go to Illinois and work on his campaign. Newt needs your help. Plus you can give us some “on the ground” information. That is more important than explaining to us why Santorum is winning his 12th state.

Mississippi called for Santorum, great night! They did? Wow! Rick had a phenomenal night! Good for him. I wish everyone on FR would at least be glad that Rick beat the pants off Romney.

Hiya naps!

Yep, RS won both states! If you read my comments, I feel like dancing that Romney was shut down here in the South!

Despite all his money, his endorsements, his excellent ground game and his nasty robo-calls (my personal total came to 27 from his camp), it looks like he's coming in third in both states! WOO-HOO!

Newt Gingrich gave it his best, but he came up just shy of winning in Mississippi.

With 93% reporting 202 votes separate Santorum from Gingrich.

Congratulations To Rick Santorum.

Yes, either Gingrich or Santorum is acceptable. I would happily vote for either.

I'd like to see Gingrich and Santorum team up. I think that would be awesome.

As far as electability goes, I honestly think any of the 4 Republican candidates could beat obama. They all make pursausive arguments, but on somewhat different points.

obama is very weak. The MSM is in full-blown propaganda mode. It will be interesting to see how many dem congress critters refuse campaign visits by obama.

Fine. Stay home, suck your thumb and pay 7 dollars a gallon for gas while Obama foils every attempt to drill and get away from being beholden to sand creatures who hate us.

And that’s just one of the problems with him.

Your problems with our candidates are petty compared to him.

I am beginning to think, NOTHING in terms of VP or Cabinet Position for Col. Allen West until he cr*ps or gets off the pot and makes a Presidential endorsement, faced with the threat of Romney at our throats and vital need for him to give the conservative side some firepower against the advancing RINOs. The good Col. has waited this one out too long for some reason...and just says "I will support the eventual nominee". That is not good enough. He needs to either kick in with "Big Ricky", or with Speaker Newt. I heard him today. Why he is holding back, I don't know. He is a principled man, but he needs to step up on this one.
