Exodus: California Tax Revenue Plunges by 22%
Breitbart ^ | 3/13/12 | Chriss W. Street

State Controller John Chaing continues to uphold the California Great Seal Motto of “Eureka”, i.e., 'I have found it'. But what Chaing is finding as Controller is that California’s economy as measured by tax revenues is still tanking. Compared to last year, State tax collections for February shriveled by $1.2 billion or 22%. The deterioration is more than double the shocking $535 million reported decline for last month. The cumulative fiscal year decline is $6.1 billion or down 11% versus this period in 2011. (snip) California politicians seem delusional in their continued delusion that high taxes have not savaged

They should simply tax movie and TV production companies, theme parks and child molesters to make up the difference.

A good thing!

When they get to 42% watch the tens of thousands of government employees do the big chicken!

“Perfect. The implosion of California is accelerating. This is going to be fun to watch. My money was n my home state of Illinois to crash first. Looks like I was wrong.”

My money is on California to be first and I live in California. Come on bankruptcy! It is the only thing that will save the state and it is also the only thing that’s going to save the country. The can refuses to be kicked any further down the road!

“Why don’t they just raise taxes....oh wait that didn’t work.”

By using liberal logic, you would clearly see that taxes were not raised ENOUGH.

In the near future, North Dakota will be producing about 1 million barrels of oil a day, worth in excess of 36 billion dollars at today's prices. You too could get that kind of business and tax base and sales taxes if you would wise up and abandon your green puke energy dogma. But of course, you won't. So ESAD.

Yup. They could erase their deficit and have a nice surplus if they wanted. But they like the taste of Kool-Aid.

Think how prosperous they will be when the government is the only employer.

California Governor Jerry Brown’s answer to the State’s failing economy and crumbling tax revenue is to place a $6 billion tax increase initiative on the ballot to support K-12 public schools. He promises to only “temporarily” raise personal income rates by 25% on any of the rich folk who haven’t already left.

Who remembers the perpetual money tree that was supposed to pay big bucks into education, called the California Lotto?

Bingo...Some people just don't get it...

Bring it on, watch the tens of thousands of unionized government employees scream.

I suggest they leave the state before their fired.

Just a crazy idea but maybe if they stopped giving away zillions of dollars to illegals.........

I'd love to see the (positive) economic impact that stopping the "zillions of dollars to illegals" would have, nationally.

I’ve been watching very carefully to see how long California will hold out before they start to drill. I’m giving them 2-3 more years.

“Bingo...Some people just don’t get it...”

If our unemployment has to continue to go up, then let it be going up by virtue of the fact that the State is laying off thousands of worthless, needless State workers. Come to think of it, the FedGov needs to do the same thing.
