I think Rick would sweep the South against Romney, and would do the same against Obama in November. He is a Christian gentleman of principles. He was firmly pro-life throughout his time in the Senate—one of the strongest voices in that body.

I would have preferred Sarah Palin, but in her absence, Santorum has been my first choice.

Now, I am wondering. It seems to me that I remember conventions in the past where a candidate has resigned his delegates and turned them over specifically to another candidate. I don’t think they are legally held to accept that, but it was the usual practice, with no more than a couple of defectors, as I recall.

If so, maybe Rick and Newt could quietly agree that the one who gets fewer votes than the other will instruct them to vote for the other—thus keeping Romney out and avoiding a “brokered” convention. Or, I suppose, it would be brokered, but between the two conservative candidates.

I don’t know if that is still possible, or if the GOP Establishment will intervene and give it to Romney—or Jeb Bush.

I don't believe Santorum-Palin is out of the question.

My dream ticket!
