First the pundits tell us Newt isn't a Southerner! He only settled there as an adult and taught in an Atlanta "suburb" (saying - of all things - that Atlanta isn't really "southern") and that he's lived in the Beltway for a long time.

But now that he's placed 2nd in Alabama and Mississippi (and 1st in South Carolina and Georgia ) he's a "rejected" Southerner who has "failed miserably" and must slink off in shame.

If the GOP Primary was a "two-man" race, Mitt Romney, the GOP-E, the MSM and his super PAC would turn all their guns on Santorum and take him out.

As long as Newt keeps fighting for Reagan’s conservative principles, like Sarah Palin does, I will continue to be with him.

Moderate Mitt is no Reagan-Palin conservative. Neither is Santorum. He may mouth the words but his record proves otherwise.

If an open convention will deny the nomination to the candidate the GOP establishment tried to force on me, then I’m all for it!

I am not surprised that Romney lost both Alabama and Mississippi.

I am fairly stunned that they chose the Yankee Catholic over a Son of the South.

I briefly had Fox on this morning. A promo for one of their shows came on, with a picture of Newt and “SOUTHERN SHUT-OUT!” underneath. But no, they’re not in the tank For Romney.....it’s absurd to suggest it. /s

Newt was born in PA and lived all over as a military family kid.

He was at Ft Bennning at 8 onwards.

I think being raised in Dixie from 8 years on qualifies well enough.

His mom and dad were teen parents...his mom quite young.

he has come a long way from that...his mom ...unlike so many today...did the right things
