Gov. Mitch Daniels: ‘Terrifying Rate’ at Which U.S. Debt Accumulating ‘Will Lead to National Ruin’

(CNSNews.com) – Indiana Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels said Tuesday that the size of the U.S. national debt and the rate at which the debt is accumulating will lead the United States to “ruin” -- and no other outcome is mathematically possible.

“Whether one believes in a large, very active government or something more limited, mathematically, the amount of debt we already have and the terrifying rate at which it is accumulating will lead to national ruin,” Daniels said.

“There’s no other outcome arithmetically possible,” he added.

As of February 2012, according to monthly U.S. Treasury statements, our national debt is $15.48 trillion, about a $130 billion more from the month prior when the national debt was $15.35 trillion.

The Hoosier governor made his remarks in a conference call hosted by No Labels, a group of Democrats, Republicans, and independents "dedicated to making government work again."

Daniels said that Congress has become dysfunctional in terms of dealing with our economic and fiscal situation -- and picked a “lousy time” to become dysfunctional, since the United States has never faced “a non-military danger or threat as large as the one we face today.”

All the more reason you should have ran instead of flushing your family down the drain along with mine.

“Will lead to national ruin”?

It already has. The debt already is beyond repayment but Washington just doesn’t accept it yet.

That’s rich, Mitch. Weren’t you GWB’s budget director.

I don’t exactly recall GWB being the poster child for smaller government and less spending.

The Statists believe they can make up the deficit with growth. But the producers in this country know what ‘misallocation of resources’ means.
The IRS rejected my tax return AGAIN!
guess it was because of my response to the question :
“List all dependents”
I replied:
“12 million illegal immigrants;
“3 million crack heads;
“42 million unemployable people on food stamps,
“2 million people in over 243 prisons;
“Half of Mexico ; and
“535 fools in the U.S. House and Senate.”;

Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.

WHO DID I MISS?

Yeah but Obama has a plan; If we get the rich to pay mores taxes we can spend more and get into larger debt.

“All the more reason you should have ran instead of flushing your family down the drain along with mine.”

Exactly. It’s so bad yet the “stars” in GOP all cut and ran. They just didn’t have the stones to battle the magic negro and the msm. These careerists think it much better to wait 4 years and not have to take on the Kenyan.

Shut up, Mitch.

He had the opportunity to run as a fiscally-strong, conservative candidate with no baggage. The "elites" would have leapt all over him because he had none of Romney's negatives, was more electable, and had a good conservative record. Instead, he declined to run.

I understand that he had his reasons, and he's entitled to them. But if he was unwilling to chip in then, he oughta just shut up now. And I say this as someone who really, really wanted him to run so I wouldn't be stuck with Larry, Curly, or Moe.

Don’t blame bush. The ENTIRE deficit for 2007 was less than the Obama deficit just run up for Febuary 2012. That’s right. One month’s deficit was more than an entire year.

The Hoosier governor made his remarks in a conference call hosted by No Labels, a group of Democrats, Republicans, and independents "dedicated to making government work again."

"Making government work again" to Democrats, RINOs, and Independents generally means jacking up tax rates instead of cutting spending. That's the last thing the government advocates want.

Indiana has the lowest number of government employees per capita in the entire country. Daniels is not a big government Rpeublican. He’s just a sit on his butt Republican when it came to this race.

“There’s no other outcome arithmetically possible,” he added.

Well, yes - however, this is not an argument that can sway Big Government liberals, who have no understanding of arithmetic. Or basic economics. Or human nature.
