Newt is for Newt, if he can do this and there is a broker convention, it makes him the “king maker”, because when he withdraws he can assign his delegates to the person he can wield the best position for in trade for his delegates. His ego is fed, he will have a position of power and ergo he will be the most powerful person there in his mind.

Sounds right to me. Very smart in a self aggrandizement kind of way.

This has always been Newt’s biggest problem. He lets his enormous ego overshadow his intellect and competence.

Anyone running for the Presidency has a big ego. The difference is that Newt has the facilities to have earned it. Besides, many have claimed that his ego is too big over the years because his intellect and straight talk has harmed their leftist aspirations and his ego "problem" has been blown up way out of proportion. he's smart and he knows he's smart - should he hide it and say "elect me because I'm dumb just like the average voter"?

I believe that Newt probably cares more for America than any of the other candidates and that is even more omportant than winning the election. He also realizes that he has more liklihood of effecting actual positive chcnages than the thers because he cares more and is willing to take it to the leftists and unapologetically expose them in public.

Newt is a genuine Conservative hero for his efforts to de-rail Romney and protect the GOPe from its’ own stupidity.

Well said and worth repeating.

I am with you manc. The Romney false attack ads, Fox News stumping for Romney and calling Newt names every day like “crybaby” “having road rage” and “crazy” and Beck acting so vicious towards Newt have done a job on him. Now Fox has started on Santorum and said he is “whining” about Fox being for Romney. Well, that is because they are. Not only that but they are acting like CNN. I have been getting more ticked every day and I am taking names and keeping track of all the lies and Fox is acting just like CNN in their tactics. Newt knows the establishment wants to “manage the decline” and not turn the sinking ship around. He is trying to create an environment in which the establishment who caused this mess loses. I do not buy the polls which say only Romney can beat Obama. Obama has not even begun to make his polls drop like a rock. Mark Levin said last night Newt will do what he wants and for everyone to quit whining. He said if Romney were a strong front runner, it would not matter if Newt stayed in or not and we have a problem. He is a weak front runner. Mark wondered what a caller thought about Newt and Rick teaming up at the convention. Levin has known there is some kind of alliance with Romney and Ron Paul and he talked to Newt about this a few weeks ago and said maybe Newt and Santorum need to consider the same thing. I know this is making everyone nervous and they want to wrap it up quickly, but the person who has been taking the most beatings in all of this is Newt and I do believe he is trying to save what is left of our country.

Blowing up Mitt Romney is a worthy goal, worth virtually any cost.

I like Sarah a lot. I still have her bumper sticker on my car. I still see her playing a role and getting a prime speaking spot at any convention.

But I don't see her getting the nomination, at least not this year. Too many see her as running away from the fight when the going got tough. I know she had her reasons and many of those reasons make sense. But she declined to get in when the door of opportunity was wide open and they are unlikely to ask her back now.

All three men in the fight now have at least taken the battle scars and bruises to indicate how they will stand up to the big fight when Obamao unleashes his billion dollar plus campaign. Sarah has not.

The GOP establishment, even were we capable of putting up the money and votes to win without them, are not going to go gentle into that good night. If they reach into the bench to pull out a dark horse, it isn't going to be Newt Gingrich or Sarah Palin. It will most probably will be somebody bland and uncontroversial who can give them a reasonable assurance of losing because they need BO in the white house for another four years to make another member of the Bush dynasty look attractive.

If Mitt Romney won't do that job, then they will find somebody who will.

That's my opinion. And there are only two ways to counter it. The first is the best and its a long shot: Send Rick Santorum to the convention with 1144 delegates. An uphill climb, for sure, but not impossible. If that doesn't work, the second is to elect their RINO whether they really want him or not. If they do a lousy job, Jeb Bush isn't going to win in 2016 anyway and he'll be too old in 2020. If they surprise us and do a great job, then Jeb Bush still ain't going to win in 2016.

AND: Mitt Romney beats Obama 49% to 43%.

That was the first thing I saw after the Ala/Miss. results.

Nothing, NADA, on ROMNEY lost. (ok,some will remind me, he got delegates), BUT HE LOST.

Everyone I talk to is for Newt first and Santorum second. I have no doubt most of Newt’s people would got to Rick Santorum and I believe Newt knows even if he dropped out today, Rick could not get enough delegates to surpass Romney so this is why he is going about it as he is. CNN did a workup backing up what I just said. Even if Newt dropped out now, Romney would get more delegates than Rick.

Ryan - Much better than Santorum or Romney, arguably better than Newt.

Argubaly? How about hands down? Other than his splendid ability to handle the press and shine in debates, Newt has a ton of baggage. Paul Ryan has none.

Conservatives could easily get behind Paul Ryan. The GOP establishment, not so much.

Every one of those three are in my vote third party or write in category, along with Mitt.

We are to the point where religious freedom is on the ropes and absolutely overrules fiscal concerns. The nominee must be credible on that issue or people who are social, fiscal, religious, and military conservatives walk.

All four legs are important. A candidate who will not defend all of them should go nowhere, because at this point civil war is preferable to sinking into hard socialism without a fight.

If the Republican party won't go the distance, it is time for it to be over.

“How about Newt and Sarah?”
_____________

I don’t know how realistic that would be; however, it certainly would be a “ticket” I could wholeheartedly support!

I think he’s staying in because he’s having the time of his life.

You're right. But he is not a young man and looks like very tired. But I think he is sure that Romney would be a waste of the Office and Santorum should just get out. Newt knows that both Romney and Santorum are not in the least bit qualified or have an understand of what must be done. I think it scares Newt as well as many of us since the President is not a dictator and working with the lame sick Senators and Reps required past experience. Most of the damage King Obama has done cannot be just reversed without some problems with many Americans. It has to be taken apart carefully so the Constitutional works can be substituted.

He’s having the time of his life, but aiding and abetting the enemy. Gingrich is a douche, helping Obama and the democrats.

You nailed it, exactly right, and they are panicked.

They have been taught that they control the thinking of Americans. They are the ones who move ideas forward as they see those ideas.

American voters are giving them a more correct LESSON now, and they don't know how to handle it, panic. Pure joy to watch if you have to.
