I’ve been playing MMOs for more than 10 years. Its a hobby. This game is part of an evolution in the genre. Star Wars has Dark and Light. As I said several posts ago, I only have one Dark Side character. The rest are Light Side or neutral.

I’m also old enough to know the difference between hunting and killing for food and defense and gratuituous murder. Most teens do not and are desensitized to violence through TV, movies, games, and even sporting events like UFC.

Is SWTOR going to turn anyone into a murderer? I doubt it. But is it going to turn anyone homosexual either? Again, I doubt it. After all, is one flirty encounter with an NPC going to affect a child’s worldview more than a thousand kills with a lightsaber or blaster?

I will wait to actually see the game content before I pass judgement. Now if they make homo romance more common or easier or more graphic than straight romance, I will report back here and start screaming for action.

But until then, I think that there are enough FReepers playing the game that the rest of you need to defer to our experience. I promise I will report back after the patch adds the gay content. Fair enough?

Well said. You’ve made a lot of good points.

As far as hunting and slaughtering animals for food, most children don’t have these opportunities. In the not too distant past, it was considered “a rite of passage.”

There have been studies that claim gratuitous violence can desensitize kids and make them more likely to participate in violent acts. I think “most” games are alright if there’s a responsible parent instilling values...
