The complete idiot must be alone in the world if the thinks this will lower gas prices.

Like trying to get a cheaper hamburger by adding taxes to McDonalds?

Note to libs: this guy is no patriot of this country.

I wonder if he could be more specific. Is he trying to have oil companies pay taxes on gross income instead of net income?

Our illustrious leader wants to prevent oil and gas companies from benefiting from the domestic production tax deduction that oil and gas companies get, along with a plethora of other domestic manufacturers.

OK, I get it. Make producing oil and gasoline more expensive and that will result in lower oil and gas prices. And something tells me the American people will buy into that.

A report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service last year found that eliminating the subsidies would likely result in higher gas prices in the short term.

So basically Obama is calling for higher gas prices just to punish "big oil." The guy is insane.

Because the markets and taxation have no effect on prices.

Gasoline rationing stamps, circa WWII, are on the horizon.

Obama is damned determined to massively raise the price of gasoline, isn't he?

$5 a gallon isn't high enough, is it Obama? You want it at $9 a gallon like the Euro-Socialists charge.

Meanwhile a grinning lazy-ass Obama drives around in his 5 miles per gallon super limousine, laughing that he will never have to pay a penny for fuel.

Mr. Environmentalist

There is no greater factor to the costs of energy than the Federal government. The main scream media whined that Exon made $4B profit last gas spike but failed to say that they payed $35B in taxes. Someone is out to destroy the American people.

Instead, Mr. Obama said his administration is cracking down on oil profits — on traders who “distort the price of oil, and make big profits for themselves at your expense.”

The marxist Kenyan Clown hates our free market system as well as our capitalist roots.

But the Kenyan Clown truly shows himself to be an idiot when he tries to make the nonsensical argument that raising the costs for oil companies will magically lower the prices that an oil company charges.

Oil companies and all other large corporate entities pass on expense and any reduction in government subsidies to consumers. A very simple concept.

Why would Obama pull for something like this at this time?

It’s sort of like his agenda trumps everything else in a big way - like he’s Godlike in some way. We seem screwed.

That’s a damned lie. It will lead to higher energy costs across the board permanently
