I sure hope you are right. I don’t see it and I am both a social conservative and a fiscal conservative. He is a good man, but will have a real problem broadening his appeal. His true believers will admore him. He also excites the opposition like none of the other candidates. Trust me, that is not a good thing.
I guess the reason I think Santorum will work is because of the blue collar mid western voters will go for him more so than Obama this round. I am actually surprised they went last time. If it was strictly popular vote, I would not be so assured of Santroum but since it is electoral college that picks our President, I think he has a great chance. He is also very popular with the under 100,000 group which is very large. The other thing is I believe unlike on some on Free Republic, the population at large will be very energized to support Santorum where they did not support McCain.
