Because dead people do not need welfare but can still vote.

Pass a law that states to vote you must show the same id you show for government benefits and see what happens.

I am blessed to live in a state that has enough common sense to require a picture ID to cast a vote in an election.

Voting is a privilege IMHO. Anyone suggesting it is more than a privilege is talking about manufactured rights. The wording in the 15th amendment indicating a right, cannot stand the light of day. It is not an unalienable right in any way shape or form. God given right to vote? There’s a stretch as wide as the Grand Canyon at it’s widest point.
