“An adult would be in the war to win it, and not to tie our soldier’s hands with outrageous rules of engagement.”

Huh? Considering how the accused violated General Order #1 by consuming alcohol in a war zone, went AWOL off of his lightly manned FOB (thus putting his fellow soldiers at risk) and proceeded to murder unarmed men, women & children, the issue of ROE’s is superfluous. If guilty this creep should hang.

You have no idea if any of what you just wrote is even true.

I had a soldier one night don camo, paint his face, and prowl our base because he believed he was a Delta operative.

Turns out it was some kind of adult onset psychosis.

I had another, a sergeant first class, who had an angel in a tree tell him to take over the preaching in a church that was meeting down the road. He walked in and tried to take over.

Again...adult onset psychosis.

What should we have done with them?

When that prick who massacred troops at Ft. Hood hangs, then they can string up Mr. Bales right along side.

Until then, lets back off on the calls to hang this psycho, we would all be a lot better off here in the west if the muhammadans were extinct.

From your screen name I can tell you are one of those “goat guys” IE; a rag sympathizer...

The fact is; you know nothing of what went on. There’s nothing that’s more “special” about killing them than there is about them killing our brave men and women in combat. My vote would be to pull out and nuke the country killing all of them. Yes, that includes women and children... War is Hell.

When we exceed the number of innocents killed in 9-11, ping me...

The facts are not all in yet. You are curiously hard on this soldier. Why?

Do you not think that he should be given a little due process just as the Fort Hood Assassin was by Obama and his little command puppets? At least?
I say the jury is still out on this one , Cabron. Stay your hand for a few months yet.

Before you sit in judgement of this man, you should try and put yourself into the shoes he wore. Since all the facts are NOT yet out (if all the facts will, indeed, come to light), your pronouncement of judgement is ill-timed and ill-advised.

As neither you nor I have any way to know what this man has lived through in four tours of combat in two war zones, WE have NO right to pronounce judgement of this man. It is MY opinion, as a parent of a combat soldier, that, given this administration's lack of support for this war, NONE of our soldiers should continue to be placed in the position of fighting against an invisible enemy for a populace that has no interest in freedom or liberty.

When do you leave for your fourth tour of duty, with your foot shot in two, a brain injury, and 24 hours after the death of your best friend? How many commendations like Bales do you have, for saving lives of other soldiers, jerk?

Go lay your self righteous judgmental BS you spew from your safe perch in the basement of your mom’s house at someone else’s feet you pious pacifist. You know squat of this man’s courage nor lamentable condition.

You assume he did everything the media has said, short of murder, already. Do you really trust the media to do the right thing by this man, like they would for someone not white and not in the military? I don’t.

Anyone remember Haditha ?

try not to be so quick to jump to conclusions,

keep in mind that because Afghanistan is now one of those Bravo Sierra "hearts and minds" "wars", it is entirely plausible that this attrocity was perpetrated by the enemy as a PR battle

Your mom's-basement military-squawk is what is superfluous, which is why you used it to give trivia the impression of importance.

This is a decorated combat veteran who obviously had a psychological breakdown. The ROEs are literally, obviously and demonstrably the most lethal threat our military faces, as has been discussed and exemplified many, many times.

There are shills, and then there are things that are lower than shills. You're at the bottom.

the issue of ROE’s is superfluous

WTF???????
The ROE’s have a very direct effect on every combat solider each and every minute of their life while in a combat zone. Warriors in our military all know damn well that the only way to win a war is to kill the enemy before they have a chance to kill you and yours. The ROE dictates how often you have to stand by and watch your friends get blown up because you were not allowed to take measures to ensure that the bad guys did not have the opportunity to get to you. Knowing these rules also allows you to better figure the odds of getting home alive and whole. I guess you believe that none of these things are pertinent issues. What this SSgt did was beyond bad. There is no way I will try and justify it. He will be held responsible for what he did and it just might cost him his life. When people break it comes out in many different ways. I've seen men stand up in a firefight. Seen what was left after they pulled the pin on a grenade tucked under their chin. I've witnessed men use excessive force on the enemy. Sometimes you can see it building and some times you can't. I've watched men that I respected blown up on their families after returning home. I am angry and offended that you do not see these things as important. Those rules shape the events and therefore the memories we carry for the rest of our lives. Those rules often cause problems that may be with us forever. Those rules can be the genesis for pain that can be inflicted on loved ones far into the future. The Rules of Engagement are always an issue, now and forever. Any other perception is based on total ignorance and absolute disregard for the individual men and women involved in combat situations. Take a long hike down the lane of reality. You missed that trip during your liberal years. One more thing, KMA.
