Back when he agreed to advise the Obama administration on economics, General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt told friends that he thought it would be good for GE and good for the country. A life-long Republican, Immelt said he believed he could at the very least moderate the presidents distinctly anti-business instincts.
That was three years ago; these days Immelt is telling friends something quite different.
Sure, GE has managed to feast on federal subsidies, particularly the green-energy giveaways that are Obamanomics hallmark.
But Immelt doesnt think hes had anywhere near as much luck moderating the presidents fat-cat-bashing, left-leaning economic agenda of taxing businesses and entrepreneurs to pay for government bloat.
Friends describe Immelt as privately dismayed that, even after three years on the job, President Obama hasnt moved to the center, but instead further left. The GE CEO, Im told, is appalled by everything from the presidents class-warfare rhetoric to his continued belief that big government is the key to economic salvation.
Or, as one friend recently put it to me, Jeff thought he could make a difference, and now realizes he couldnt. Immelts conversion from public Obama supporter to a private detractor is important: It shows how even businessmen who feast off his subsidies worry about his overall economic agenda and its long-term impact on the economy.
Dont expect Immelt to say anything publicly about the downside of presidents economic agenda anytime soon: Hes still serving as what is considered the top outside economic adviser to the White House. (A GE spokesman insists that the reports Im sharing here about Immelts private criticism of Obama are ludicrous.)

Sorry, Jeff - you sleep with dogs, you get fleas.
Sucker!..............
So, someone found out all this starry-eyed, idealistic, utopian green-energy talk is simply a smokescreen for a political kleptocracy?
Welcome to the party, pal.
I don’t buy it.
Right on or as Dave Ramsey says: play with snakes, you are going to get bit.
It’s getting pretty crowded under that bus.
A lot of people got fooled by that fool. The important thing now is that everyone who got fooled not repeat it in November.
To even believe that the Obamaloon and his Clown Show of Felon/Cretins could run an economy demonstrates naivety of a magnitude previously unseen.
Inmelt is obviously an idiot...and he amply fits the “pointy haired boss” image of Dilbert.
He should thank his worthless butt that his company’s worth is due to their scientists/engineers/workers...and not to another of a succession of dopy MBAs.
This guy runs GE and it took him three years to figure out socialism run by an idiot is bad? Wow!
Trial balloon CYA to his friends in the socio-industrial complex.
“...A life-long Republican, Immelt said he believed he could at the very least moderate the presidents distinctly anti-business instincts...” Jeff figured he could gain a lot of political favors for GE. ($$$$$) It’s the only reason he worked for “Team Obumma”.
He milked US for everything he could and now he’s bailing out.
RE: A lot of people got fooled by that fool.
In other news, Arlen Specter writes his memoirs and says he was BETRAYED and USED by the Democrats after he cast the 60th vote to pass Obamacare.

Immelt proves there’s always hope for stupid people - look, with a nice suit and the help of some friends, you can even become head of a major US corporation!
He has spent too long being Obama’s poodle to be trusted on anything
I don’t either. Looks like they either want to transfer to Romney because Obama is toast. Or else they are entering into the idea concept that big business is in Romney’s pocket in order to add credibility to Obama.
Of course we know they are sacrificing themselves for the cause. Same trick they use trotting out the Oracle of Omaha.
Fortune 500 companies have played both sides of the political spectrum for years. That is why we are so screwed up with crony capitalism.
So while he was in charge of NBC and MSNBC they could be called “right wing media”??
lol
sure.
