NBC: Romney Wins Illinois Republican Party By Michael O'Brien, msnbc.com

Mitt Romney won the Illinois Republican primary with some ease on Tuesday evening, allowing him to likely add at his advantage over his rivals in the tally of delegates needed to secure the party's presidential nomination.

NBC News projected that Romney had won the contest, the lone presidential primary taking place on Tuesday, shortly after polls closed. The primary offered Republicans maybe their best chance yet of a genuine one-on-one battle between the former Massachusetts governor and Santorum, his chief competitor for the Republican nod.

I expect him to win but not by a huge margin.

Big deal. He has won another state that will go for Obama. Now Santorum just needs to go to Louisiana and win there. Santorum will win Louisiana 100 percent.

Face it.

It's two parties trapped in one organization. It cannot go on like this.

The Fat Lady sings. This is now all over except for the curtain close. A divided anti-Romney vote has brought us this catastrophe and Le Resistance to Romney is now on the ropes.

Eric Ericksson of Red States says on CNN, that Romney has now wrapped it.

I’m guessing you mean “100% [guaranteed]”, not 100% of the vote. Unless all of the “chocolate city” has moved to Houston I expect it’s going to be an interesting vote tally.

Illinois will never go Republican anyway so this primary is meaningless. Just another state that went RINO but will go full Marxist in November

For now. He is never going to win in November. I dare the GOP-e to call me for a financial contribution.

Reminds me of McCain beating Hayworth in AZ

McCain spent $21,600,000.00

Hayworth $ 1,560,000.00

Unfortunately, even if Santorum wins LA,PA, NJ, and CA, he won’t have the delegates even by adding the minuscule number of Gingrich and Ron Paul delegates to deprive Romney of 1441.

Why? RINOs are all that is left of the Illinois Republican Party.

I’m here working, and we don’t get the early call.

Turnout in the city was 15%, and 50% of the most liberal counties are in. Downstate has less total numbers, but has BARELY reported yet.

Unless early voting was 50%+ for Mitt, I don’t get this early call.

Your little Ricky since Florida would not unite.

This is your doing. I kept warning you but no one would

trust me. I knew the party was primping up a weak Rick so

people would go Romney's way. Rick should go away, he help this to happen. Unreal and sickening.

lol. Yes 100 percent guarantee. The problem is that it is on Saturday....basically another win that will be ignored that Santorum will win. It is making me sick to know that Romney is gong to get so much praise from the news media when they completely ignore the other candidates. My goodness the only news that Newt gets is when is he getting out. Paul is totally forgotten (I don’t mind) and Satorum is just news that he can’t get enough delegates from Mitt. This is a sorry primary. Had everyone gotten behind Santorum after Florida, we would see Santorum winning this thing, but now Romney will probably win it.

You bet this was a “must win” for both Romney and most certainly for Santorum, so this now officially ends the primary contest.
