Agreed, and even if we end up with Romney, our top priority still needs to be to defeat Obama. It just looked to me like your previous post was implying that Freepers may somehow contribute to Romney’s defeat because of past criticisms. If that’s not what you meant, then I guess we’re on the same page.

I voted for Santorum too. I voted for Huckabee in 2008. I actually supported Hunter, but Huckabee and McCain are what it was down to when it got here.

I live in Illinois and Rick Santorum was ON THE BALLOT in EVERY single congressional district and county in Illinois (I don't think we've ever had an election in Illinois where a statewide candidate for federal office is "not on the ballot" in SOME districts, Illinois state election law doesn't work that). The lie was started by kooky Paulbots ("only Ron Paul is on the ballot in enough states to stop Romney!") and it's amazing conservatives still fall for it.
He was missing a handful of delegates in 4 districts. In 3 of those districts: 4,5, & 7, they were liberal urban districts in Chicago that he stood little chance of winning. All 3 are safe Democrat in November and went to Romney easily for the few people that voted in the GOP primary. In the last, IL-13, it was a moderate GOP in the 'burbs he had a slight chance of winning and might be deprived of 3 or 4 delegates that he earned if that happened. However, Romney won IL-13 today.
And which district would that be? I can show you the vote totals that Rick Santorum received in each of Illinois' 18 congressional districts and prove you're lying.
Good show. I came looking for details on delegate count, but those two posts will have to do. And that sounds like the crap some Paulbots would pull, based on what I’ve seen them doing.
As far as I can tell from the official state congressional district map, Wheaton is in Congressional District 6. If BillyBoy is right, Santorum **DID** qualify for delegates there.

The map indicates 99 percent of the vote is now in, with one county, Macoupin, still missing. It indicates Romney won DuPage County (home of Wheaton College, and historically a center of evangelical influence) by 54 to 28 percent for Santorum. I am not an expert on Illinois politics, but it looks like Romney took not only the urban but also the suburban areas of the state and Santorum’s support was confined largely to the rural areas of Illinois.

When compared with the Huffington Post county reports, if Santorum didn't file a delegate slate in CD-13, that means he missed out on a swath of territory from north of St. Louis running through central Illinois south of Springfield up past Decatur and extending to Bloomington and the Champaign-Urbana area. CD-4 (which is horribly gerrymandered), CD-5, and CD-7 appear to be a mix of urban and close-in suburban districts. This is unfortunate; I've spent a lot of time in those areas of the state when I worked for a different newspaper and some of those areas have a high population of white-flight people whose parents carried with them Chicago's race-based politics and have become Republican voters, though often for reasons I very much dislike. I would have thought Santorum would be able to get delegates in those areas relatively easily and I don't understand why that didn't happen unless he simply didn't get the boots-on-the-ground organizational help he needed.

Huffington Post is saying 41 delegates for Romney and 10 for Santorum, with 12 more to be selected at the state convention and three “superdelegates.”

Of course, it is Huffington Post so take it with a grain of salt, but I can't quickly find any conservative website or mainstream media giving that kind of detail yet, and HP is getting their county-by-county data real time from the Associated Press so I'm assuming the raw numbers are right even if the analysis is slanted leftward.
The problem with debunking this “Santorum wasn’t on ballot in 4/6/10 Illinois districts” cr@p is that Illinois doesn’t tally the results by Congressional district, they do it by county (there’s 101 counties), and Cook County does seperate counts for the city of Chicago and suburban cook county, on different websites, so you’d have to look at 102 different webpages to find the numbers Santorum got in Illinois. His name and vote totals will be listed on each one. (in a few months, you’ll be able to get them all at one central location at the Illinois State Board of Elections, but that won’t be until the official canvass comes in... right now all we have is unofficial data online)
Basically, if someone can pinpoint their congressional district, I can locate a county, township, or city of chicago ward located ENTIRELY in that congressional district and show you what Santorum’s vote totals were there.
Let’s start with example. IL-2 is Jesse Jackson’s district, a safe RAT district that is heavily black. Republicans never win there and don’t get many candidates on the ballot. Chicago’s 10th ward on the east border of the city is entirely located within IL-2. It’s probably 95% RAT. Santorum only received 238 votes in that ward (Romney got 368) but since none of those were write-ins, it proves he was on the ballot. Free feel to name a Congressional district where you think Santorum “wasn’t on the ballot” and I’ll show he WAS on the ballot when people voted in that congressional district — and I’ll give you the totals for the congressional race as well (in whatever chicago ward/suburban township/county is the quickest to find). I am really sick of having to debunk this Paultard lie.
Here’s the bottom line:
On election day, Santorum won all delegates in CD-12, CD-15, and CD-17, for a total of 12 delegates from Illinois. (SOURCE: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/IL-R)
He was ON THE BALLOT EVERYWHERE IN ILLINOIS (no matter how much Paultards and our RINO Romneybot State GOP chair lie about it), but he was missing a few delegate slates in CD-4, CD-5, CD-7, and CD-13. He had virtually NO chance of winning 4,5 & 7 (urban Chicago RAT districts where the few Republicans who live there will vote for Romney), but a slim chance at winning 13 (a moderate Republican district in the Cook County ‘burbs).
IF he had won 13 — at most — he would have lost out having 3 or 4 delegates at the convention that were rightfully his for carrying the district.
However, since he DIDN’T win 4,5,7, or 13 (Romney carried all 4) his lack of a full delegate slate in those district didn’t affect the outcome one bit.
And again, Republican voters in 4,5,7, and 13 had no problem voting for Santorum in the Presidential race, just as every Republican in Illinois had the opportunity to do. Ask Impy — he lives in CD-4.

I will vote for Romney if he is the nominee, but I just don’t see him being the fighter that Reagan was or Gingrich would be. He’s not going to give it back to the media when they bash him, and more importantly, he won’t bash the Dems when THEY bash him.
He’s going to be the third term of GWB, who will sign any piece of legislation thrown over the wall. He is not a fighter, and will be booted out of office after his first term, and we’ll be stuck with Hillary or some anarchist in 2016 running our country.
If Romney wins, I pray he’ll have a Republican House and Senate who will be sending bills that make sense to sign. I pray that the leadership of the House will make the right decisions with the budget and turn this out of control ship around.
