I have never understood the public statements from the Vatican, regarding Israel.
The only satisfaction I have is that the subject is not “a matter of faith and morals”, so they are clearly open to error in the matter.

this is not a ‘public statement from the Vatican’. It’s an opinion by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. He speaks for himself, not even for all the people in his Patriarchate.
