While things are no totally over for Santorum and certainly over for Gingrich, I think we have to resign ourselves to Romney being the GOP nominee. Despite Romney’s shortcomings on conservative principles he would be infinitely better as President than a second term for Obama. What conservatives need to do is stick to our principles and see that Romney runs to the right of center and picks a team that includes many conservatives. We have to avoid the mealy mouthed middle of the road lets compromise with liberals that was the hallmark of the McCane disaster. Obama is beatable if we stick to his record and put some fire in Romney’s belly.

I’m already making peace with a second Obama term. Now how can we best help his opposition in Congress?

Well, what I also think you have to resign yourself to, is that Romney is going to stammer and stutter and flub and stumble throughout the fall — and Obama is going to saunter right back into office.

We, the ABO crowed, have ensured ourselves another loss in the general election if this bumbler manages to get the nomination.

I, myself, prefer to hold out hope for a brokered convention, and for another more lethal candidate, or, preferably Newt, to arise out of the ashes. Either that, or just let Obama get in and let the entire THING collapse like a house of cards.

Ok, and then if Romney gets in as prez, we get to see him up there, again, stammering, stumbling, and made a mockery of by the clowns and bullies who have resided in Congress for umpteen million years. We’ll watch him “try” to enact conservative policies, yet fail because he’s not strong enough as president or in his convictions to fight them off. And we don’t even KNOW what sort of Congress we’ll be dealing with in 2012.

I’d rather see it all just crash and burn and then start over. It would be less painful.

Infinitely no, marginally maybe.
He's not going to reverse anything 0bama did, all I see coming is a slightly slower path to socialism.

No Romney, period! If he’s the nominee, then I’m writing in Sarah Palin’s name. The GOP-E deserves what it gets.

“Despite Romney’s shortcomings on conservative principles he would be infinitely better as President than a second term for Obama.”

Just as Heinrich Himmler proved to be a more competent administrator than Ernst Rohm. Fact.

Let me tell ya something sonny.

*Anyone* who is endorsed by a Bush, will never, ever receive my support, because it won't matter anyway.

Kind of like Lucy & Charlie Brown with the football. They've been pulling this garbage on Conservatives forever. We hold our nose & vote for their RiNOs. Maybe you're ready to resign yourself that Romney will be the GOP nominee, but you may be surprised to learn that all of us are not okay with that.

So now, our principles are to see that Romney runs to the right of center & picks a Conservative team!! We'll just send that message to Romney & like Obama - he'll say anything to get elected. We'll just brain wash ourselves into forgetting about what he did as Governor & we'll feel better about pretending that he's the only Conservative in this presidential race. We'll soldier up & vote for him to make the GOP happy, & they'll just keep doing this to us in the next election, & all future elections - if in fact, the country is not destroyed by that time.

We'll be like the black vote that the RATS depend on to get elected.....after all, where else will we go? The old game of 'they won't vote for Obama, so we don't have to worry'.

I voted for McCain because of Sarah, but I'm opting out of playing the game anymore!

What’s going to be funny is that as Romney continues to build his confidence that he has cemented the nomination, he’ll start moving back to center. His natural impulse is moderate, and he’ll think he doesn’t have to throw red meat to the right anymore. So expect a bunch of non-conservative gaffes from Romney. The Republican media will try to knock them down, but the remaining primaries might start to fan the flames if people who lean conservative start seeing Romney swerve left again. Romney is still going to get some beatings, I expect even if he does think this is done.

-Wishful thinking, but not happening. If Romney hasn’t got the fire in his belly by now he never will.

I will not “resign myself” to Romney and I will not vote for him. If that is what the republican party gives us, then they deserve to lose.
