How is that going to be possible when, if he is elected, he'll have been elected without minimal conservative support and as a moderate candidate?
He'll stick it to conservatives just Lisa Murkowski has done in Alaska.
I’ve seen him operate in MA.
He’s a banker at heart, so he has decent economic instincts.
Socially, he’s sympathetic to conservatives, but will fold immediately upon encountering resistance.
He will fold on economic issues too, but less quickly, since he has some competence in the area.
I have a friend who was appointed to a significant office in his administration. He’s libertarian/conservative/technocrat. Since he didn’t buy the appointment, I assume that these characteristics appealed to Mitt. My friend is a “good govt” conservative.
Will Mitt slash and burn? Only if you put a gun to his head. That will be our job. But I could see him rubber-stamping Paul Ryan’s proposals.
I think Romney will be the death of the GOP if he gets elected. Conservatives will take that as a last straw. The TEA Party will become a third party for a couple election cycles until they start filling out the House and Senate.
“GOP” is a damaged brand anyway. Might as well call it “Demo-Lighter”. Absolutely no hope of saving it.
And for those of you thinking Rush has suddenly jumped on the Romney bandwagon, you apparently don’t understand Rush.
IMHO.
