Rick Santorum surely knows he has no way to win the Republican race after his thumping in Illinois on Tuesday night. After his commanding win there, Mitt Romney not only has more than twice the delegates (560 to 246), but a third again as many votes nationwide as Santorum (4.1 million to 2.8 million).
Newt Gingrich knows he can’t win the nomination; that’s why he was in DC last weekend looking at cherry blossoms with a Secret Service detail surrounding him.
The race is over for them. Romney has beaten them. Of the 34 contests thus far, Romney has won 20, and lost a 21st (Iowa) to Santorum by only 34 votes.
Yet Santorum and Gingrich continue to run forcing Romney to spend money to defeat them he might more usefully spend to defeat President Obama. Why?
Simple: They’re trying to induce an unprecedented party crisis — which is supposed to be an opportunity for them and the GOP. But their reasoning is cracked...

That is unfortunately correct. The only way O wins again is if a crap load of conservatives take their ball and go home. Look what happened the last time this argument raged. I know a lot of conservatives that wish they’d shown up for McPain.
Yep. I voted for sarah and her running mate, and honestly I cannot find words strong enough to express my loathing and contempt for John McCain the Traitor. He would have been a horrible president.

Hey Rita— haven’t seen you post recently- I don’t know about that Fla situation. Obviously, we know they front loaded and “fixed” Fla and Ariz for etchosketch— i guess it will depend on how well newt is able to generate anti-gop-e sentiment-— if he can’t, they’ll just steamroll everything.
Read deflating news from ppp, that newt is fading in la——i though he might do well there wt energy— but the follow the fold crowd is marching onward wt their revival....Bright side, when Father Rick is president, it will be nice to sit on the porch swing and enjoy the 1950’s again. -:)
Chris, i know exactly what you mean- we are on the precipice, no exaggeration there. But, the gop-e is what put us there- i’m not being a wiseguy- but, the gop-e is all about saving itself, by pushing the rest of us over the edge.
Definitely agree, I truly think the GOP is in cahoots with this communist take over. I can honestly think of no other explanation for their behavior.
But for my own part, I have to exercise my last legal option to save my country via my vote, because only God knows what’s going to come after that and only God knows what’s going to be done or what’s going to have to be done.
It could be Hell, real Hell on Earth in America. Sadly, by the design of this game, it looks as if I’m going to have to vote for ROmney in that aim, and if I can’t do it for myself, then I’ll do it for my adorable nephew so that he may not have to face what is coming.

Consider China. A capitalist paradise, as long as you don't cross the Party, who still ostensibly worship Marx, but actually worship only their own power and the wealth it provides. China is capitalism managed to support a fascist ruling group who cite Communism as their source of legitimacy.

They do. But it helps to have an election first. It's that legitimacy thing, don't you see. Duly elected. Check. Then consolidate power, and no more need for free elections!

Etch-A-Sketch is going to be Obama’s GOP opponent.
One question now remains.
Do we want Etch-A Sketch as president or a muslim communist fascist dictator named Obama.
Seems like a simple choice to me.
And to me.
Our task will be to drag Etch over the finish line and install him in the White House in place of Zero.
Then, hopefully, we will have also elected enough reps and senators to make sure he etches the right sketch! If we do, he will (because the wind will be blowing right). If we don't, then we're well and truly screwed!
I hope Newt and Santorum raise holy Hades at the convention! A little civil unrest is needed. I'm really getting to the point where I think it's about time conservatives need to start seriously considering their options as it concerns the republican party.

Newt should get out because he has no chance to win. He should then go back to being a FOX news contributor so he can talk.
Santorum will probably stay in until after the Pennsylvania contest and then assess whether it is worth continuing.
If Newt fails to win 5 states, are his hard delegates uncommitted?
Rule 40 states that if a person can’t win 5 states, they can’t be put into nomination. I can’t find anything on what happens to their delegates. Maybe you can find specific wording on that. Already though, some Newt delegates have said they are going to Santorum, so there may be no such thing as a hard delegate for the candidate if the can’t even get into nomination.

Alright, pardon my snappyness. I disagree with your math. As long as Newt stays in, there are a number of states, such as Texas, that will apportion their delegates to all those above a certain threshold because noone will get 50%. With Newt out, there are many states where Rick will make 50% and tip the threshold rule and garner all the delegates.
I don’t believe that Gingrich getting out would put Romney over any states threshold of getting all the delegates (although Illinois’ recent final would seem to argue against this logic.)
