If someone was following my wife like that and then got out of his car and started following her even more. I’d want her to fight back.

One major problem with your statement. If your wife started fighting back she would actually be starting a fight. She would be the aggressor.

How? If that were the case, every instance of self defense would be considered being the agressor. Then what's the point of the "stand your ground" law? If you feel REASONABLY threatened, you have the right to fight back. Someone behind you on a sidewalk is not reasonable. Someone, in a car, following my wife in the dark... then getting out of the car and following after her when she tries to get away is a case for feeling REASONABLY threatened.
